Does anyone know of any significant wounded deer trailing/tracking information. Anything with different pictures of types of blood and hair etc? I have a a couple books, but they have few pictures for comparison of blood. Just looking to learn.

The books I have are:
Tracking wounded deer by Richard Smith
Finding wounded deer by John trout

I'm looking for hood info on identifying blood from different wounds, preferably with pictures, analysis of arrows after the shot and so on.
Any one know of where I can start looking for that kind of stuff?

John Jeanenney's book "Dead On" is excellent. John (recently passed away) was the founder of United Blood Trackers and has been on over a thousand recoveries.
I think the book is on Amazon.

Another good blood trailing book is
"After the Shot, Blood in Motion" by Jerry Allen
Jerry sells Bluestar (aka luminol, aka bloodglow) and has been on many recoveries via the use of Bluestar. Jerry runs hunts for disabled and youth and has also been on a lot of bloodtrails.
His book is available at

I second the Dead On recommendation, but you may consider buying it directly from them. They probably get a better portion of the profits if you buy direct.

As Tom said above though John passed away, but I think some guys have bought books from the above link since so hopefully it still works.

Either way you get your hands on it, it's an excellent book. I re-read it before every season.
