Hey everyone, I'm a fairly new hunter living in Arkansas. I tried the route of a tree stand and for a number of reasons, it's just not for me. I'm in the market for an inexpensive platform, ascenders, carabiners, rope, saddle, etc. I'm open to any used/DIY setups. After buying my first bow and most every other thing you need for your first hunt my budget is pretty restricted. Thanks in advance! Also if anyone in the river valley area wants to connect I'm looking for a hunting buddy

No, I'm a righty i take it really matters?

It’s really not a big deal on a hand jammer. I know more than one righty that use lefty gear, plus myself for some things. Depends on what you start with & what you prefer....which you won’t know until you try! Conundrum for you, I know.

For a rock climbing harness i used this from amazon, $20 .
Paired with a sit drag and sewn on loops for lineman belt. Very light and strong, i weighed 270 and slipped on a limb, harness and linemans belt saved me a fall to earth.

I pulled the trigger on a rch, ascender, biners moose jaw had a good sale on everything. I got enough rope for a tree tether and linemens belt, I'm in the search of possibly big enough pack to haul sticks and a quartered out deer. Most importantly I'm looking for a cheap platform. I've been thinking of doing a primal step with plywood? any recommendations are welcomed. Thanks to everyone reaching out! Super fun to nerd out on this stuff

First off, moosejaw ftw- they're the only ones that do the id.me promo at 20% off afaik

For a sitting platform, try a google search for DIY bosun's chair or DIY belay seat.

As for a pack, hauling >40lbs stay away from frameless if you plan on hauling over some miles. Try this roll-top lined with a contractor bag. Use a foam sleeping pad (if you choose frameless as well) to help frame out the pack- this would also help with keeping the meat cool if you pack it in before heat of the day for long hikes out. You can use the sides to lash your sticks to, and drape and secure your climb rope up top.
