I have the seat and hardware and could not find the 1 1/4" aluminum tube for the post. Ended up finding a steel 1 1/4" tube that was made for a newel post. Other than the added weight do you guys see any issues using this as opposed to aluminum?

Not really. My first build used solid aluminum bar stock. The LW seat bent. I'm not sure if it's an inferior design, or the non flexing nature of the solid post caused the issue. Others built using LW seat but hollow tube with no bending noticed. Guess we will know after you try it.
