Jcline84's video is perfect. Simple & safe.
I use an epic peak to repel.. its easy to use stop and go to retrieve stick if using them.. I use it in the place of a ropeman and tie back off to my biner..
Not that it is completely necessary, but on the shortened bridge if you tie an double figure 8 loop knot in the center of the bridge & connect the ATC to the "new loop" in the middle it creates redundancy in the bridge. If either side of bridge were to fail or come unclipped you would still be attached to rap device.View attachment 7151
9mm is strong enough to hold 2 of youI'm about 260#. Is that Sterling HTP 9mm strong enough for me? Should I get a sewn eye? So lets say 40ft of rope, ATC, and Sterling hollow block loop and I should be good to go?
Grigri is good. I prefer the mad rock lifeguard. Smaller, lighter, and silent to put on the rope. Grigri is kinda bulky and very noisy
I think I will end up getting 9mm Sterling HTP... does the Grigri grab it well? If I let go of everything will it stop the descent?
Is the Black Diamond ATC-XP a good choice or are they really all the same?
I think you would need a grigri 2 to use 9mm rope. Just look at your grigri and see what size rope its rated for. And be sure to load the grigri with your weight before you just assume its engaged. But yes its automatic. Sterling HTP is an excellent rope.
Double-check but I think the ATC-XP is for smaller diameter rope. Get the ATC or ATC-XP according to your rope size.Is the Black Diamond ATC-XP a good choice or are they really all the same?
