I got mine from Amazon the other day. I'll test it out and see how it compares to the original.
I'm surprised your steps don't have a strap with the hook, I think all of mine do. As long as one of the ratchet straps you bought has a hook on it you can just use that. I have always carefully taken the thread out of the part holding the step on so that I could re-use the straps since they had hooks. If you are not going to use the straps for anything else you could just cut them to get the steps off.Ok. So I am a bad procrastinator. I am planning on going out tomorrow morning. I ordered this OCB and thought last minute I could just slap some Ameristeps on there and go with it. My steps don't have the flat hook though. So I know I need to order something from Strap Works but I went to Lowe's today and bought a set of ratchet straps hoping that would get me through tomorrow and I can order my stuff from strap works.
1. Do I just cut the steps off the Ameristep at the loop? Does it really matter?
2. What are the finer details of what I need to order from strap works? I looked and there are some options that I wasn't sure about?
Sorry, I know some of this has probably been answered but I am at work and didn't have time to sift through the whole thread.
Thanks,
Wade
Good luck! Thanks for the advice. Going for it tomorrow. First saddle hunt. Hoping to at least make it into the tree. A deer would be a very huge surprise.

Well, I got set up but no deer. Didn't get as high as I would have liked. Had my sticks too close together. Also got rained on for 3 hours. If you do, it will be beat my first saddle hunt. I never did get set up!
3 hours of rain? So fun!Well, I got set up but no deer. Didn't get as high as I would have liked. Had my sticks too close together. Also got rained on for 3 hours.
Thanks! I would take a nice doe at this point.3 hours of rain? So fun!
Hope your next hunt produces a monster!
Man that buckle gets tight! Awesome! So much quieter and simpler. Can't wait to use it tomorrow. Cold front came through overnight and temps will be in up 30's in the morning.

When you get the boat buckle you have to cut the straps that it comes with off. After that, once you have a strap with a hook on it like the strapworks strap, you can just thread it through like you said. Just pay attention to how the strap originally goes through it before you take it out to save yourself some time when you try to re-thread it.If you order the system from strapworks, are you able to load the ameristeps on without cutting anything?
I'm assuming you can feed the strap out of the buckle itself to load the steps on and then feed the strap back through the buckle? Thanks!!
