Not sure how many shed hunters we have in here but I thought it would be cool to document our outings here. I'll start it off with my first real hunt today. Walked about 5 miles and covered two bedding areas out of about six I plan to cover at this particular place. Last year I found two nice sheds on a hillside covered in laurel and rocks with heavy moss on them. This time of year the deer eat some of the moss and this area holds a concentration of deer. I found my first of 2017 in this spot. It blended in pretty well and I didn't see it until I was right on top of it

I will add more as I get out more. Feel free to add your outings as well!!

I found this November 7 th helping a friend folllow a blood trail. It sat in a swamp for 10 months and was chewed alot. Probably had 7 points minimum on that side. Looks like a small moose but was from a buck...

I found this in thick nasty stuff I would like to set up nearby this fall. Lots of perimeter hunting pressure

I tend to find most of my sheds off main trails in thicker stuff. I think that's because the deer are just browsing and meandering through cover and they lose them. I try to hit the thickest stuff I can find when shed hunting lol.

Great thread @flinginairos. I don't go shed hunting in particular, but I am always looking for them when I'm scouting. If I find one it will be a good year!

I look for them a decent amount in February and March but never super hardcore for them. Just fun getting out with my son and wife exploring the woods. My area is pretty tough because it's all big woods so if I find one or two while looking im happy lol.

Found this little guy while squirrel hunting... which really just turned into deer scouting with a .22. It's the first one I've ever found, so I'm pretty excited, I'll be out this weekend looking for some more.

Those are the ones that take skill (or a whole lot luck) to find! Lol

I've only ever found 2 or 3 sheds. Hopefully I'll find a few in February. I don't think the deer drop their horns around here until late January.

Around here, I've seen them drop in December still, and I've seen them with antlers in April. You just never know!

Same here. Mid December-late March around here. It's pretty safe to start looking end of January but I started a little early this year because most bucks have dropped already for some reason.

I'm sure some have dropped here also. My dad has seen bucks on his backyard cam with antlers last week, and I saw a nice buck on the way home from work Friday. Saturday is probably my last day out so I'm holding out hope!

Made it out Saturday to a WMA on a lake about 40 minutes from my house. 18k acres of public hunting. Used kayaks to access a spot about a mile from the boat launch. Didn't find any sheds but we had fun seeing a new place. Walked right at 5 miles again. Terrain was STEEP and extremely thick for the most part. Was a good time with my wife and son. Here are a few pics we got along the way

Awesome pics. Love seeing the whole family out!

Thanks man! We really enjoy our time out and my wife has really grown to love hiking over the last couple years. Before she met me she wouldn't go in the woods alone for anything lol. Now she will hike alone and hunt til after dark by herself. With a good light of course
