I showed my wife a pic and she said, "So it's an actual stand, not the tiny stand like you have?"

Has anyone heard or seen anything more about Hawk's platform? I'm more interested in how that stacks up against all of these new platforms (function and price).
Haven’t heard about a hawk platform at all. If it had a way to stack helium’s I’d be all in

Here's the thread about it. Honestly, I'm more interested in what a mainstream, big company will come out with than another little guy. This will be what most hunters get exposure to in a big box store, etc. and may shape the future of all of this. To us it may seem like saddle hunting is huge right now, but this is still very much a niche community.

What's happening now everyone wants a bigger platform. What happened to all the guys who like to shave ounces off their setup and now want bigger platforms. It wasn't very long ago rope on steps was all I had to use. I guess sometimes I just don't understand.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I switched to saddles to get away from all the extra metal, bulk, and weight. Now everyone on SaddleHunter is like, woooo treestands! :D

Guilty as charged, lol.

I think what happened was with all the emphasis put on weight savings, manufacturers figured out how to make lighter gear. The assassin was reborn as the ambush and lost a pound. The .5 is the lightest cast hang on that's ever been to my knowledge. Carbon sticks. Mesh saddles. Lighter insulated clothes.

I can now carry an in-production, unmodified stand and sticks for about 10lbs. Show of hands, how many folks have a sub 10lb saddle system? What does an assault and 4 full length sticks weigh? 20 something?

I personally went minimalist because gear was over built and not made to carry. Now that stuff is built lighter and with packing in mind, I start thinking about the advantages stands offer. A place to sit when hip pinch bothers you. No tree in front of your face blocking your shot. No thinking about the weak side shot. Being able to face away from the high side of a leaner. And I can always wear my saddle in the stand and have a lot of the best of both worlds.

Dont get me wrong. You wont see my treehopper or my last few ameristeps or squirrel steps for sale. But stands are more appealing now than they've ever been

Yep same here. The scout and solo scout are the biggest platform I need! No way in heck I’m going to start carrying a 5# platform!

That thing looks too big and heavy for my liking.... hopefully novix drops something new. Everything seems like regurgitated lone wolf stuff with a new name, not very exciting..

Considering people were spending absurd amounts of money on the old LW version of this platform, I think Novix knows what they are doing.

Sold my original LW Assassin for 450 in about 30min

Used it to fund my entry into the saddle hunting world

I think I did and posted it here or on one of the other threads. I get confused!

5lbs 13oz without strap. Which is what they advertise it as. Nobody weighs stands with straps or seat cushions. Cute of them

surely you must mean 4lb 13oz

Launches all suck it seems. At best they're irritating, and at worst they're positively cringeworthy.

But, take that out of the picture and you have a hopefully much cheaper version of one of the most sought after platforms of all time. A big platform is an acquired taste for sure. But I like this design better than the xl predator pics I've seen. It has a way to pack the mini sticks, which in my mind is an absolute must. If I can choose between packing sticks/platform next to my back vs hanging off the opposite side of the pack where they will weigh the most, I'll choose the former every single time. So far there are 2 companies that let you do this. This one seems like it will be half the price.

I have to disagree there, maybe not stock, but I’ve yet to encounter a platform that I couldn’t add Talons to. Then you have the benefit of choosing whatever brand/model/length stick you want & have nesting capabilities along with access to sticks while climbing.

LWCG makes a good but highly overpriced platform & the Novix platform looks good at a fair price. However, neither platform is going to nest with Hawk, OOL, or beast sticks. So to make their systems functional you will also need to purchase sticks. Guess I’m partial but you’d get way more bang for your buck with picking a platform & sticks of your liking & adding Talons.
