Deerstand Snacks

Besides peanuts in the shell, hard tacos, and celery, sometimes I bring pistachios, Doritos, onions, and ice cubes to chew. I like a variety of snacks.

A big bag or pork rinds is my favorite. It's very stealthy

I am not an expert hunter and have only seriously hunted for 2 years because I never had time. Do you not think that things like onions or other strong smelling foods are a bad idea in a deer stand.
Why shower, why avoid filling your truck with gas with your hunting clothes on. I know we need to hunt the wind but in my humble opinion which is not worth a lot why do we want to eat things that have a strong odor and are not present where we hunt.
Not a criticism but a question.

:blush:I guess I am have lost my sense of humor. O well. I love apples and wish acorns tasted good.

LOL - Don't sweat it! I guess that most of my ideas and opinions are so bad, hunters actually believe I eat onions, Doritos, and Taco Bell in my Saddle. HA!

I like to take tortilla shells and make sandwiches out of them. Peanut butter, sandwich meat, banana & peanut butter, pb&j. All these will roll up in the tortilla and you can place 4 of these rolled up tortillas in one sandwich bag. Water to drink.
One other thing, smear peanut butter on tortilla and then add a banana (whole or cut in half) freeze it over night. Great snack for early season warm days.
Takes up very little room in a pack.

Now this is a great idea, i do like a good roll-up!

For 3-4 hr sits I'm a clifbar or apple kind of guy myself. Usually by them on sale for $1/each from local grocery store.

If it's an all day sit I pack enough for lunch and snacks in between. Usually a sandwich, granola bars, some fruit, finger foods ie: pretzels, peanuts, trail mix, etc.

I try to eat things that at least have as much value as an attractant as a deterrent. I eat the Nekot peanut butter crackers more than anything else. Sometimes I put them in something quieter than the original packaging but sometimes I just eat them out of the noisy packaging. I usually have my snacks between the time I expect deer to bed down and the time I expect people to start bumping deer on their way out. I have also eaten a lot of apples and usually throw the rind on the ground. Never seen evidence of a deer finishing them off. There aren't many deer around here that have ever seen an apple unless it was half rotten and sitting on someone's corn pile. I planted a persimmon tree a couple years ago so maybe I'll start taking them to the stand in a few more years.
I wouldn't be totally surprised to be floating the cannoochee and look up and see g2 kicked back in his sit drag wearing a pair of crocs and eating Doritos. The deer make so much noise in those palmetto thickets that he'll have plenty of time to roll up the bag of chips, put the chip clip on them and hang it on his qliptor and get ready for the shot.

shhhhhh. Don't give away my secret strategy!

I wasn't going to tell them that you turn the bag inside out and hang it in the tree before you leave so they get used to the smell. Cooler ranch would make a good cover scent.
