I'm gonna need kyler1945, Hurst1, Autumnrider and Carcher87 to please quit attending family functions on the weekends and perhaps quit your jobs if necessary in order to add points for the hunting contest. Team 8 is enjoying a commanding lead and it isn't necessary. Thanks for your participation. " huck72412"

Congratulations to you Prill, that's a really cool buck. Well done!!!!

It's coming, just, "WHEN" is the question.

Thanks! Scared off a buck getting to the tree, and broke a million pine branches on the way up. Can't believe her and another doe showed up 30 minutes later.

BC, you're an animal!!!

I tried to tag people but I am social media inept!
I think a few members asked for the story -

It was a fluke hunt yesterday morning. I had a family obligation and was able to sneak out for some tree time. I was just about to get down from the tree, but something told me to sit tight, I felt like I was hearing deer but didn’t see anything. I hit a grunt call (I never call but I was only going to hunt this spot 1-2x this year so I went for broke) and about 2 min later 2 doe came running down the hill followed by a small buck. I continued to look and an 8 pointer followed about 30 seconds later. They were going away from me and I decided that I wouldn’t have cashed my tag on the 8 pointer anyways. They walked out of sight and I decided to hit the my grunt again to see if I could elicit a response and gauge the 8 pointers behavior. He followed the call up with a response and so I hit it one more time and stopped. About 30 seconds later he was slowly making his way back to my tree and I picked up my bow just in case. He was at about 26-30 yards broadside when I picked up my bow and he caught my movement (I was in a 6” diameter tree riddled with vines because the tree I normally hunted out of has grown too large for my sticks. Every time I adjusted, the little tree and all it’s attached vines shook. It was single handedly the worst tree I’ve ever climbed and the most uncomfortable to sit in). Unfortunately for him, he looked right at me and I was able to truly appreciate his spread and age (I also thought I saw a split G2 on his crooked antler). When he looked down again I drew back and let it go.

I’m pretty sure my shot was low based on the impact and entrance/exit wound. I pinned it through his front leg, through the bottom of the heart and out his other leg which indicated to me he was dropping from the sound and fell right into the path. I watched him run 50 yards before losing sight of him but heard him crash.

I believe he’s the biggest I’ve harvested ever and largest with a bow. I compared him to the deer in my profile picture and the tines are close in length but he is wider and thicker. I’m going to measure tonight and will end up euromouting him.

Not that it’s required here, but I’m going to put in a plug for our method of hunting, via saddle. Both deer I shot this week would not have been possible in a conventional stand.

Buck- I hung from a 6” diameter tree that was completely wrapped in grape vines and had hanging vines all over it. I strapped my sticks around it and it took 90 min to climb and cut away the hanging vines to give me just enough of a window. No stand could have hung from that tree because of the vines and diameter.

Doe - she came in last night directly behind me (opposite way I expected deer). I quietly swung around and got into position. I was also in a sparsely populated area as far as trees are concerned and had to use it as cover to draw my bow. She was being trailed by a buck who was trying to corral her. She walked into a shooting lane behind the tree at about 15 yards and that was that.

Unfortunately I’m tagged out in PA since generally only 2 tags are allowed unless I travel to a management area for an additional doe tag.
