    Carrying Wild Edge steps

Each step gets me about to the top of my chest muscle......just under my chin. I guess that would technically be around 4.5 feet each. With my platform that gets me to fifteen feet off the ground with three steps. I stay in shape so I am probably more flexible than most people my age. I used to...

    Carrying Wild Edge steps

I am short....5 foot 6 and I never carry more than five steps. I use a knaider and each step gets me around five feet. Most of the time I only carry three steps. I have tried alot of setups and this seems as good as any and also as light. A knaider weighs basically nothing but doubles your...

EWO Squirrel or Treehopper steps for ROS?

I use three treehopper steps and ocb buckle and have never had an issue. I am completely satisfied with this setup. Easier to pack in than a platform and also easier to get up the tree.

Detachable wood seat for a Tree hopper Recon

I am sure it is super comfortable.....but mine only weighs a few pounds and was put together from stuff I already had. I think I have around $10 in supplies on this thing. When I get older and don't walk as far to my stand I will probably end up with a JX3.

Cordura Fabric vs Tethrd Mesh Fabric

My saddle has fleece and cordura with padding in between and I still don't notice myself sweating in the early season so I don't think it's going to make much of a difference either way. I'm sort of in the south......North Carolina.

    Timber Ninja Outdoors

I figured you guys would hit it off....ya'll are too much alike. Guess I will get to try your new carbon fiber sticks next year at the Greater Carolinas Hangtime! Jason at Timber Ninja Outdoors is not the type of guy to halfa$$ a product so I am sure these sticks will be the real deal. He is a...

Detachable wood seat for a Tree hopper Recon

I did something similar to this using a plastic cutting board with foam glued to it. I covered it in camo cordura and sewed it to the sit drag. I added a standoff to it also just like the jx3 has so I don't need knee pads. Once you have that solid addition to the webbing you can add a standoff...

Greater Carolinas Hangtime! Saturday, March 7, 2020

This was a good time.....thanks guys. I can learn more from a few hours at one of these events than I could learn in several years browsing online. Now for more tweaking equipment and DIY tinkering...….whitetails will be the only losers to come out of this event!

    The Wrap2R

My saddle has fleece and I use it in the south early season and don't sweat. It doesn't bother me.....minimal swamp a$$.

    The Wrap2R

I tried it as well as about ten other saddles the other weekend and the Wrap2R is built like a tank and comfortable. I personally prefer the mesh over just the straps(Anderson sling). I felt extremely safe in this saddle. It was almost overbuilt but still very light. Bwhana did a great job with...

    First AR build

I think I put an entire AR together watching the deals at Palmetto State Armory for $450.....and it will shoot a mosquito off a prairie dogs a$$ at 300 yards.....with crap ammo. Both of my PSA AR's which are entry level rifles other than the triggers are as accurate or more accurate than any...

    First AR build

I built two with the most basic options from Palmetto State Armory and they have both been fantastic. Palmetto State Armory has great deals and I have had no issues with their equipment. I built both of my 5.56 AR rifles for about the same price as an entry level bolt action. If you are going to...

    Finding Mature "Bucks"

Probably buck bedding. Most buck bedding that I find has at least two beds close to each other with rubs. They will use different beds in different winds but stay in the same area. I snuck in on a bedded buck during high wind in October that had been bedded in an area just like that. He had 6...

    Finding Mature "Bucks"

This is the best time of the year to learn new properties....you can return during season to find the most recent sign for hunting. Learning new areas is as much or more fun than hunting to me. Finding sign like that at this time of the year also lets you know that deer survived and can be...

    Tether Redundancy

I believe that most guys carry a lineman's belt up the tree with them....why not use it as a back up? You already have it up there with you and if you use it as a back up then it doesn't take up much needed storage space in your bag or pouches. Rather be safe than sorry.....a friend of mine fell...

    I need better boots... suggestion?

Agreed...I am on year #3 with my Lacrosse Aeroheads that I got on sale for around $100. Well worth the money and super comfortable. My math ain't so good but I am thinking that works out to around $33 per year(will be using them this year too).

    Knee pads?

Here is a link to some with elbow pads included....not that you would need them...

    Knee pads?

I have used these for 5 seasons with no visible wear. Comfortable and paid $10 for them.

    Carbon fiber sticks

I spoke with the owner of Timber Ninja Outdoors and he has used his prototypes all year and had no issues so it sounds like the carbon fiber sticks are definitely going to happen. No idea what the price will be.

First archery buck out of the saddle!

Never hunted it before....I scouted and found the freshest sign in the area with an active scrape, freshly shredded trees, acorns, buck scat and within 100 yards of where I thought the bed would be. I was wrong on the bed. I was 25 yards from his bed and didn't realize it until after I shot him...
