Advantages of the Guidos Web

Ok guys was wondering if someone could put some pictures on here on how they add or remove clothing while in the web. And if anyone has pics of heater body suit on while in the web. I can get mine on but I can't figure out what to do with the tail. I can't get suit zipped up. I am pulling the suit completely over the Web and have added 2 holes in front for bridge to come thru. Any ideas guys? We get this tail thing figured out and I am sold on this g.w.

Not just the back, but the seat sitting at almost a 45° up towards the tree.

It sounds like you are tethered 6-12" too low.

I am not sure what the new tethers look like, but I replaced mine with climbing rope and prussic knot along with a climbing rope bridge. This makes it really easy to adjust up or down. I always attach to the tree as high as I can reach and then use the prussic to get to the sweet spot.

I use a sling for a bridge. Can you share a description and a pic of your rope bridge? Also, what your thought process was when choosing a rope rather than a sling for a bridge.

Thanks.

I thought I had a picture of the rope bridge and tether, but I don't. I copied what I saw in a forum post somewhere- maybe AT. I took a 10' section of arborist rope, tied a 6" diameter loop on one end and a 4" diameter loop on the other. A prussic loop goes around this rope about 1/3 of the way down. A caribiner is attached to this along with the small loop on the other end of the rope (dead end stop). In the tree, the larger loop goes around the tree as high as I can reach and I pull the rest of the rope, prussic, and dead end through it. My rope bridge (18-20" long and attached to the GW with 2 caribiners) now is attached in the center to the caribiner on the main tether rope. The bridge slides through that caribiner with ease and I have tons of adjustability using the prussic on the main tether rope. I chose arborist rope for the bridge because it was what I had on hand. I would guess it would slide through the caribiner a touch more easily as well.

Thanks for the reply. One more question for you.

Regarding rope bridge: Is it two figure eights, one on each end? And two carabiners to attach figure eights to GW?

Thanks!

Geez- I'm not a knot guy I guess. The closest thing I found on a knot chart to what I used is a "running knot". Basically the end of the rope goes through the caribiner, back around itself, and then down through the loop that I just made. I guess this would be a simple slip knot now that I think of it. I don't even attached the bridge to the GW until I'm at hunting height.

Thanks for your reply. I cannot picture it. I guess I will keep using a sling for a bridge. I was thinking the rope might be safer.

I am a little OCD about this safety stuff. Especially since the failure of the bridge (rope, sling or knot) could be catastrophic to me.

My best wish for safe hunting and success in the field for you.

Sounds like a Munter hitch

I was thinking about removing the fork off my guidos web. I could wear my knee pads just like when I am using my tree saddle. that way I could pull my heater body suit over my web and me both. any thoughts on this guys?

If you are going to remove the GW fork, might as well sell the GW. And you really think the HBS will fit over the GW? I have both and I do not see that happening.

I thought I read where the IWOM is doable with the aero hunter. Maybe sell the HBS, buy the the IWOM and try to get it to work with the saddle and GW.

But to cut the fork off, doesn't make any sense to me.

Just my opinion.

I got it done. I hunted today out of the web without the fork. And I got my heater body suit pulled over everything. Plus I arrowed a doe tonight. My first deer out of a saddle.

Good for you. As long as you are happy with it, good. Congrats on the doe.

Fot the little time I had so far in the GW the forks makes all the difference in the world when it comes to comfort and I find it not getting in my way at all. I biggest issue with me so far is getting used to climb with it. Does anyone use the stock tree strap to climb with it like GW recommends? I don't see how it can works with sticks.

Right now I like to hang 2 of my sticks with the GW off and then climb up and hook up the climbing belt. The climbing belt is hard to connect on those loops using 1 hand and standing on stick. I am thinking of just using a separate climbing belt and setting sticks with web still folded up. When I get to top I could release the seat and then hook up.

I am certainly liking carrying it through the woods compared to my climber. Although the weight is similar is carries better and makes no noise when going through brush. I cant climb nearly as fast but I am still getting used to it and hopefully will improve. I am pleasantly surprised with all the buckles and straps that it is very quiet when hunting from it too.

i have read where people are cutting slots in the HBS to accomodate the bridge on the evolution. Do you think you could do that and then also cut a small slot for the whale tail? I think you would have to buy it oversized to be able to go over the entire web while you have it on, but it might be worth it. you could then climb into the tree without the suit on and then put it on once your tether etc is attached. the only problem you might need a second bridge to thread through the holes and attach to the carabiner then remove the bridge that is in the way. I don't know if I am explaining that such that it makes sense....

wish i had one to play around with but hate to spend the money before i know it will work.

It will work. That is what I did to mine. Minus the slot for the fork. I just removed the fork. But I pull the heater body suit over Web and me both after I am up. I use linesman belt while I pull bridge thru slots.

what about cutting a third hole low just before the legs? That is what I have thinking. If I can figure out how to make my heater body suit work with the web it will be the final piece to the puzzle.

I think one of the greatest benefits is how safe I feel and the comfort is unbelievable. My only regret is that it took me this long in my hunting career to find out about it.
