Aluminum Platform Build

For climbing a tree I personally like modified Helium sticks the best. I stand on mine sometimes (using the top two steps) with no problem.

It might work but like others have said I'd probably try to get the lower tree bracket right behind where the platform force is.

i wish i had the tools to play around with something like this.. but being a 22 year old i'm a bit limited.

However you guys come up with some awesome ideas! something to look forward to!

Actually i used 2 2x4's screwed together to bend my metal and a battery drill. The rest i bought from the hardware store all together cost about 20 bucks. The welding i had to have someone else do because i dont have access to tools like that nor the knowledge.

Sorry for the delay, they are actually scrap 1x4's that i had laying around. I just stacked 2 washers on each side to create the space and connected it with 4 wood screws

So i have been testing a few different set ups with the platform. Come to find out a 1/4" grade 8 bolt bent so i had to upgrade to a larger bolt. I think i have gotten most of the kinks worked out ill post a good write up once i have some more time.

That platform looks to be about the prefect size. Big enough to cross your feet and rotate to shoot on the offhand side, but not much excess.

It really is! I also wanted it this size so I can stand on it to readjust if needed. Last year I noticed that if I wanted to adjust my saddle it was difficult off of my sticks.

I am in the process of camoflauging it and then ill post pics, I am trying to make it so I can fold it as flat as possible to make it easier to pack. I have my longer stick set up for if i want to use the one stick method. I am having trouble getting the small section to work. The top of the stick is so short that it puts a lot of pressure on the top of the stick and causes it to pull away from the tree. I am going to try and readjust where my versa button sits and see if that will help..... Any suggestions? I may just go buy a piece of aluminum box steel and make my own small stick that is a little more sturdy.

Oh man, that's way more simple than i picture it haha, and looking forward to the write up

Alright so i think ive finished my platform stick combo. This one i plan on using whenever i use the single stick method.

It folds very flat so packing it in should be good. I had to upgrade to bigger grade 8 bolts because the 1/4" is to small. When i drilled out the holes to the biggert size it caused the platform to not be as level as before so im putting on some washers between the stick and the bolt to act as a shim. Otherwise i think im ready to start practicing out of it at ground level to make sure its not going to fail.

I used a strap underneath the versa button temporarily until i can get some amsteel.

I will also make a more compact stick for when i use my climbing gaffs i just havent bought the box steel for it.

Overall i was happy with the way it turned out but i am surprised it took so much to make it sturdier.

That looks really good! Is it hard to climb one stick with the step on top like that?

SO PERFECT! Well done. I bought a LW Assassin seat to use as my platform, but if I'm ever in need another one I'm going to copy this. I love how it folds flat. That's a lot better than my current setup with the assassin seat on my LW stick. Also - your camo job is LEGIT! Thanks for posting.

Sorry for the delay, life has been getting in the way of my saddle life!

But I just took the platform out over the weekend to do some shooting out of it. I haven't done any other mods to it yet, I decided I needed to take it easy for a bit and let my finances recoup. I am not 100% satisfied with it, I think for what I put into it, it should be sturdier. I am hoping to start my compact model soon once I get some aluminum box steel. Once I start the project ill keep you up to date.
