Amsteel Daisy Chain Rope Mod for Climbing Sticks

it is definitely the lightest you can get with your straps. It renders rope mods obsolete

My previous post was all about one stick....trying to work this chain above your head, while hanging. Its not good for that
For regular set of sticks its awesome

Excellent! I used 7/64th whoopie slings on my LW sticks a few years back. The rope is PLENTY strong.

There was too much fiddle factor with the whoopie slings. Your daisy chain is a much better use of the rope! Awesome!

Can you link to the amsteel daisy chain video on YouTube? I'm assuming that's how you learned the daisy splice? Last year I tried to build one but I could figure out how!

I couldn't find a video when I was thinking this through, so I just kinda went with it. I figured somebody would ask this question... but I was being lazy, so I guess I'll have to make one. haha. Here's a picture of how I fed the amsteel through so that each loop was locked in place.

That looks pretty nice, it's been a long time since I did any splicing

So each stick's daisy chain is comprised of two separate pieces of rope spliced together?

If u didn't use a daisy chain and just tied a knot to hold it in place what kind of knot and would it still be safe?

No, it's one piece looped around, I just used different colors in the picture so it would be easier to see. I just made a quick video showing how to make one of these. I'll put a link in once it uploads.

NO!

Tying knots in amsteel drastically reduces the breaking strength of the rope. I was reading some testing where it reduced it to 1/3 the original strength or less!

You lost me a bit at the end. If I wanted to make just a loop for versa button, what would I do to finish it? Bring the daisy end through where???

I probably used a 5 ft chunk, but I want to go longer once I order some more amsteel.

5 ft resulted in how long after you finished the daisy chain?

I was a little off on my guestimates, but a 104" rope made a 60" daisy chain with the first 18" of it without links. My new rope started as 144" chunk, and ended at 78" after making the daisy chain. That will get me around trees bigger than what I can reach around.
