Another DIY Saddle- Scuba Webbing & 1000D Cordura

What do you guys think of re-purposing the strapping/webbing that comes with the included harnesses with tree stands? I have a few from my tree stand days, all un-used. Or is this a bad idea?

im inspired too, started reading about thread and stitch patterns for load bearing slings.Found a book ON ROCK suppose to have info on diy harnesses stitch pattern, thread, etc.40$ a little rich for my blood.Looked at A SINGER 4452 and 4423.Theres a lot of info im not knowledgeable about.
Do you have a link to this book? I can't find it on google.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I'm guessing he meant "On Rope." The book is expensive new...but you can buy old library copies online for under $10.

There is good information in the book. The sewing portion was a little lighter than I anticipated. But good information if you are wanting to DIY. And for anyone wanting to increase their knowledge on climbing, overall worth picking up IMO.

I have the same stuff but I priced the webbing,It doesn’t cost much and I’ve had the harness for years so I’m going with new and I know the strength of the webbing

@g2outdoors the 1000D definitely is overkill. The one I'm drawing up now will be made with 500D.

Can u post your drawings with measurements? My wheels don’t turn too often but once they start I can’t stop them.

@g2outdoors you gotta try one of these ultralights! This is the 1.6oz hyperD ripstop. The hammock design conforms to the hips and thighs well. When seated, the top can be pulled up for back support. This can be made for a couple dollars using any sewing machine.
The stick camo was your fault as well.

The hammock saddle I made was the most comfortable of them all. I just need to figure out a way to keep it from falling or sewn onto a rock harness.

You haven’t been here long enough to know that EVERYTHING is G2’s fault. Isn’t that right @g2outdoors

Also, DANG nice saddle. You are making me regret not getting the singer heavy duty that popped up on Craigslist a while back.

@swampsnyper i haven't noticed any issues with it falling. Im wearing a minimalist RCH separately when using it. @Ridgerunner the 3/4" mule tape makes an excellent bridge. The tape moves nicely through the carabiner to pivot. @IkemanTX haha I haven't but it is evident. Thanks!

Normally I am completely opposed to labeling anything as "the best" way to do things.

However, I'll break from that with my bridge. For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would choose anything but amsteel blue for a bridge. Its ultralight, slides effortlessly through a carabiner, splices easily to reduce bulky knots or sewing, and stronger than anything else out there.

@g2outdoors I'll go ahead and put in a request for youtube video on how to make the am steel bridge! Check DM regarding steps and platform when you have a minute.
