I have some FRP on the way and will try it out as soon as I get it. I would appreciate any input on the design.
 
Looking at the drawing, I believe the strap needs to be as close to the tree as possible. That will help with side pressure and twisting.

Ok things have slowed down here after the holiday. I have some time available to start figuring out a kit for this seat. I could make it with either a versa button or the rope cleat but fair warning, the cleat is an expensive part.

Before I get started on this however, how many of you guys actually need one.

Hey Ernie, sent you a message about this, not sure if I sent it right, but I'm interested in a kit for this with a rope cleat, I have a seat and a lw bracket, thanks
 
Holy cow this thread is long, I gave up trying to read it all, lol. I recently acquired an old LW Seat and wanted to build it up to the Old Klemz style seat. What do I need? What size metal post, length? I know I need one XOP Bracket and a Versa Button, but what else? I'd love a parts list if available.

I have mine that Ernie made the kit for, but haven't had time to get out on it and practice due to some unfortunate home repairs (Termites). But with the kit it turned out super!
