With both feet planted in the tree, adjust your line belt by making a fist and putting your elbow in your gut (belly button) your fist should just miss the tree. To avoid a cutout make sure you lock your legs on the way up.Worked a little in my spurs today. Still trying to get used to climbing with them. Anyone have any recommendations for making the climbing? You run a short linesman belt, or run it long to get a steeper spiking angle?

Yep that spacing seems about right to meWith both feet planted in the tree, adjust your line belt by making a fist and putting your elbow in your gut (belly button) your fist should just miss the tree. To avoid a cutout make sure you lock your legs on the way up.
I don't disagree. They are value spurs. A lot of guys like them not because they are the best, but because they are cheap, light, and functional.I guess I'm running against the grain most folks like the climb rights but I bought a pair after I stopped working professionally and still did side tree work. I found that the step of the climb rights are really wide even if I wrenched them down to the point it would hurt after a while in the tree they where still lose my foot could still slide side to side. When I was working I had a beat up pair of klein's I liked alot, thought I was upgrading but it was a downgrade...still considering selling the climb rights. Gecko's are real nice too but a good deal more expensive I used my foreman's a few times. I do like the idea of using a cam strap instead of a buckle I often found that one hole is really tight and the next looser one is too loose.
True, same reasons I bought them, but i hindsight I would have bought a cheap, heavier (steel), more functional and comfortable. From a hunting perspective the weight savings is slight considering they are all you need besides your saddle.I don't disagree. They are value spurs. I have the geckos and love them. I did change out all of the Velcro and leather for nylon and buckles. I used side release buckles on my shin so they are easier to take off in the treeI guess I'm running against the grain most folks like the climb rights but I bought a pair after I stopped working professionally and still did side tree work.
