Custom Sit Drag pics

Also... wanted to buy Treesuit. I'll even fancy up a Sit Drag for you BOMO if that is your preferred route.

If you have a treesuit, you don't need a sitdrag.

You need:
A knife/scissors.
A bridge of your choice.
Buy or fashion a belt that you trust, preferably with rings built in or a way to sew (non-life supporting) thru two layers of seat belt or webbing.

I cut away the rope from the webbing. And I removed the belt. So i was left with the seat, the back support and the webbing straps that come off the bottom of the seat.
I use those straps to connect my bridge to.

The only 'tricky' part is the Linemans belt which is also how you keep the back of the Treesuit 'up' on your back...
I used a 2" seat belt style belt that I had from a fall arrest that came free with an old stand. I simply stitched a second piece of seat belt on the inside of each side of that 2" belt. I put climbing rated carabiners in between those layers, I'm sure to connect to the TMA approved belt - my sewing just holds the carabiner from sliding forward on the main belt.
This becomes my Linemans belt for climbing. Then at height can hook up my bridge to the original factory webbing coming off the seat.

I also added some of the soft, sticky camo tape that comes with a summit climbing stand (i will pay for any that others have around), to the front where the seat will hit the tree. Save wear on the treesuit and silence its contact point with the tree.
This is how I have my treesuit setup with a Treehopper for the belt. I'm not sure about rappelling down from the bridge in a seated position.

I can't find my Treehopper - again. Had it all pre-season and the first week that I hunted. No idea what bag, bin or box I put it in. But yes, that was my plan too. Were you able to feed the rings thru the factory "tube" on the back that holds the Lineman's belt?

Yes. Barely, but yes. I've considered selling the treesuit with treehopper, since the idea of the sit drag with RC harness seems "safer", but I haven't decided.

OK. Definitely spend some time in it. then if you decide to sell for the 'safer' and lighter option, let me know. I may be a buyer.

Thank you. Very simple then. I'm looking at doing the same thing, just with plywood and a fork sticking forward. Then foam and then cover it all (except the fork which will get Summit skins) with a soft camo cloth like that.
Basically, I'm trying to replicate the Treesuit with just a little more space away from the tree.

If you haven't already tried (it's been a long chat since your OP)... closed cell foam takes away most of the pressure from MY hips. You may want to try that if the board gets annoying for you. It's firmer than the soft foam you are using. But you would want to test it for a long sit so you aren't surprised when it doesn't feel good after 15 minutes on a hunt. For most of my walks, a firm board like the Treesuit or Guido's Web or even my monstrosity the Frankensaddle, aren't really a hindrance. But thought I'd mention what the closed cell stuff did for me.
Where do you get the closed cell foam? Home Depot?

Walmart or anywhere that sells outdoor gear. CCF is popular in sleeping mats for camping.
This stuff? I started out with this. It helped but still had too much pinch. Are you using multiple layers or just the one?

All of the CCF pads I have are thicker than that. That stuff looks really thin and like it would't do much.

do sitdrags ship from China? lol...got my 'you're item has shipped' email and it says scheduled delivery from Dec 7 to the 27. gee thanks for the narrow window. he he. I cant wait to use this.

The thickness should be more like the plywood you have that on. :D

I am using a 1/2" thick sleeping pad for camping. I have not used the Sit Drag for a hunt yet but have a lot of seat time testing it and other parts of my set up using it as well as practicing. The foam worked great when I used the Frankensaddle which incorporates it. I plan to cover it with some sort of felt. It can make some noise.
