And there lies the problem... that sucker ain't tied correctly. Retie like this and sit back with a beer knowing that it'll all work out when you test it tomorrow.2019-12-03 21.36.24.jpg

Mine is tied exactly like yours but with 1 less wrap. I use 5 wraps on my tether and 4 wraps on my linesman. Both work perfect.

Sounds like you drank too many beers and it’s affecting your vision.

Ha! Got mixed up. Thought you were @Yooper14 :).

Posting this question here too:

Gents, I just got my dad into saddle hunting. Trying to get him everything he needs without breaking the bank. I got my wisdom teeth out today and don’t feel like scrolling 450 posts lol but does anyone recall the diameter of a normal hunters safety system tree style rope? Is it 11mm? I’m gonna make him a new tether with oplux/Beal/mini Kong but just use his current tether for this lineman’s belt. I’d like to set him up with a tender and need to know what’s good to use with that HSS rope. Thanks

Decided to get out the saddle and climbing stuff and tinker.

Copied the OP and attached a nylon spacer to act as a "Ropeman 1" or as a prusik tender.

Is that a keychain ring around the small eye of that mini figure 8 mini?
Yes, it comes with the mini figure 8. You can see that it has stretched a tad. It’s not as stout as other key chain rings as it seems to be be made from brass as well. You could easily tie some 550 cord on it to replace the ring if you wanted to go that route as well.

Ah I see. Yeah that would make me a littler nervous. But cool tender none the less.

This thread is great. Multiple different ways to achieve what everyone wants when climbing a tree!

It’s not life support, so really nothing to be nervous about. Good luck with your rig!

Anyone shared this method yet?

Yes that’s been shared. Feeding through the carabiner as a tender is fine. Using the same diameter (size) rope as your hitch chord is bad practice and not recommended. Also a single overhand knot is unsafe, and an overhand knot with less than an 1/2” of tag in is just plain dumb. Don’t do that 17FE189B-9455-4427-915D-4B36E70CA11B.jpeg

It looks like the lines that come with XOP harnesses. At least with my saddle/harness mashup. The hitch cord is smaller than the main line, even if it doesn't look that way in the pictures. But yes, absolutely, re-tie that know with something appropriate. I'm glad XOP tied their Prussic loops so we can re-tie them.

I tried this many times. Including the WLR version of the hitch. Nothing has come close to the Ropeman. It's the Cadillac and holy grail
