EZV sight / Thumb Release

Alright folks. Just placed my order for an EZV this morning! Now I'm waiting on this, a Mantis package, and a set of WE stepps! :)

Man, yall have been hard on my wallet this month!

The EZ-V may be the last thing ordered, but it will probably be the first to arrive....and you will love it!

I've been reading about how over 55lbs or so is overkill when it comes to whitetail deer and I get pretty tired after 10 or 12 shots. So in preparation for my EZV to show up, I went ahead and lowered my draw weight to 55lbs last night. It's much easier to pull now. Thought now would be a good time to change poundage since Aaron has already done the math. I just have to pick the right insert when it comes in!

Is it (ezv) worth it? I want to try it but not sure yet. You guys have just about convinced me to hit the credit card (again)

I like mine. You can try it for 30 days and return if you don’t love it.

And two days later... she's wearing an EZV!

As soon as I took my PNP off, I was immediately overcome with buyers remorse and spent most of the evening feeling like I made a big mistake. I put the EZV on and came to full draw and realized I had NO frame of reference when it came to form feedback! No peep, no Perry's No Peep, just the tip of my nose on the string and a V. Aaarrrgghh! I totally gave up a proven system (3 deer with the PNP setup) for the unknown. Man. I hope tomorrow's initial sighting in session goes well...

I used to shoot without a peep and actually loved it. The only season I shoot peep now is cause I have went back to shooting local tournaments.

I’ve ever tried shooting without a peep. Well, other than before they were invented.

How does it work at long distances? I like to shoot at 100 yards to help develop form and concentration. I never shoot deer over 30 though as whitetails are so fast to react. I also am looking at going elk hunting next year in Colorado. It sounds like the elk vitals are very similar to a whitetails and I should just aim a couple inches lower on an elk.

I'd like to see this question answered cause I do the same at long distances.

Went to no peep cause a peep is no good at low light.
I would anchor the same as with a peep but I would actually look through the string. When anchored, the string looks fuzzy and you can see through it, then I'd line sight with string and shoot. I was pretty accurate (kill zone on 3d target accurate) out to 50 yrds and no issues with killing deer at 35 yards and closer. Now take in mind that I shoot with both eyes open.

I’d think you would aim a couple inches higher. If you frame elk vitals the way you do a deer, you’ll use a wider part of the V causing you to shoot lower.

I think you're right. I re-read the ezv website and i think it was trying to advise what you stated but not very well.

The tick marks aren't marked down to 100. On some of the faster inserts you might be able to draw them on. For the slower inserts there isn't enough room. What I have resorted to on mine is just improving group size at 60-70 yards vs shooting at 100. Both have the same effect IMO. Stretching out the range further just has greater consequence of missing the target on a bad shot.

Well I pulled the trigger on the sight and am going to try the thumb release as well. It took about 18 shots to get it dialed in. I'm still shooting at a 16 inch cardboard circle that was recommended. I'm going to have to get their paper targets though as I don't have a 3d target.

So far I noticed it is as accurate as my pin from 20-40 yards. I have noticed that most of my misjudgement of distance results in a low or high hit. I don't seem to have the circular pattern that I use to.

I just need to shoot it more often to get used to the v sighting as a range finder. I'm still using the marked ranges and shooting at known distances. It does seem apparent that once I get use to the ranging "v" the sight will be awesome out to 50 yards. i could be wrong but I think the v gets too small to accurately use it to range further than that distance, at least for me.

I use mine in conjunction with Bow Anchor sight and have been using the B.A.S. since they came out. With the combo it is very natural and instinctive.

So the Anchor sight is like the Retna Lock on the IQ Bow Sights from what I can tell. I loved that feature of my IQ Sight but gave it up when I switched to an EZV Sight.
Can you share a picture or two of how you have it set up?
Did you eliminate your peep sight?

I haven't used a peep more than a decade. PM me a number and I'll text some pics and if you want to post them that would be great.

Are you shooting fingers? I don’t see a D loop on your bow string.
Never mind. I see it now.
