I wonder why Dan didn't consider am steel instead to help get the weight closer to 1.5lbs especially if it is a strong as is claimed. Plus no buckle which would seem better for bed hunting.
I'm sure people will still mod as they see fit. From his perspective with liability, straps are a lot harder to screw up. With amsteel some guy could try tying an overhand knot or something and have it slip free.

2 pound sticks with amsteel mods are about a pound and a half. That's not far off the ones I built. I'm not sure how much lighter you can get with an aluminum construction.

True. The current weight is consistent with what I projected last year:

Dan's base stick, no strap is 1 lb 7 oz or 5.78 lbs per 4 sticks

With 5/16 Amsteel: 1 lb 8.3 oz per stick or 6.08 lbs per 4 sticks

With 5/16 Samson ultratech: 1 lb 11 oz per stick or 6.75 lbs per 4 sticks

With standard strap: 1 lb 14 oz per stick or 7.6 lbs per 4 sticks

Were your calculations based on six foot lengths?

When me and a co worker were trying for an ultra light stick, I kept wrapping my brain trying to figure out how dan was hitting that weight. I guess I know why now. Getting below 1.5 safely is difficult with aluminum materials.

I read on the beast that these sticks are coming in a little heavier than originally planned at just over 2lbs. I like the idea but at 24" sticks and $70 per stick I'm thinking I may try to make due with my LW sticks or Stepps. What do you guys think?
I would stick with the lonewolf sticks and WildEdge. Thats what I'm going to do.

You guys on the fence should buy just one stick to see how you like it that way the investment is low. I guarantee that you will buy more. Without getting into detail they fix everything that is wrong with other sticks on the market.

I have been testing prototypes for the last year and they are slightly heavier than the finished product. Three sticks with aiders gets me to 20 feet. I love them and never going back to my LW sticks.

Does anyone have ratings and or specs for the sticks yet?

Also 2.04# for a single stick on his postal scale. Weight includes the strap & buckle.

Total length is 24” with a 23” step length. He said that step length will fit 95% of hunters.

Today Dan replied to someone that sticks have 300# rating

I'm guessing that was part of going away from the perforated tube and the savings. Big savings on manufacturing as well.

Has he given any indication as to when they might start shipping? Will they be ready before fall?

I have heard good things about Dan. I joined that site a few weeks ago. Like minded people going after it hard in the field.

How do they compare in packability compared to your modded heliums?
