Hammock

My wife posted that pic on her Facebook. Looks like I'll have a few orders to fill now!

Dang, Swamp, you are miles ahead of me on the hammock front! Glad I can learn from you...

Did you try to install grommets? Looks like you are tying off the ends. I intended to try installing grommet for easier hanging.

What I did was pretty easy. Ran a piece of paracord through the gathered end to cinch it up. Then just larks headed the eyelet on the end of my whopper sling. It stays attached but if I wanted to change out suspension, it's easy to loosen up the larks head.

There's really only two ways people tie off the hammock...sewn channels or whipped ends. Swampsnyper did a modified whipped end. My favorite way is to sew a channel on the end of the hammock and run a continuous loop through the channel.

There are lots of videos on the Tube about both methods. You really can't go wrong.

I assume you aren't using a ridge line?

I do have a ridgeline. Its easily detachable with the knot I tie it on with. In the room the walls are not wide enough to get the right angle and my ridgeline drooped too much so I took it off. But outdoors I put it back on to hold up the mosquito net and ridgeline organizers which I need to make next with the mosquito net scraps. Just finished Making the mosquito nets for all 3 of my sons today.

Got the important stuff done. Guess I can start on that tarp...
Oh, that's a good idea, I need to made pouches like that for mine. The blackbird has a storage shelf, but the pouches would be nice

Now Im really fired up again. Lol. You sew these with a normal sewing machine/outdoor thread?

I see there are quite a few of us that hammock camp along with saddle hunting. Can you guess where I'm doing some work at?

Hammock, suspension (usually comes with the hammock), tarp (for weather protection), and insulation (sleeping bag & underquilt)
