Not sure about that, but painting it does not work. I tried it and it comes rite off.Does it seem like dipping a Ropeman would work? With the inner part moving independently I wonder if it would be an issue.
It will work much better than painting. Rope and biner friction is still going to rub off whatever you apply to the exterior.Does it seem like dipping a Ropeman would work? With the inner part moving independently I wonder if it would be an issue.
One more thing....the cam cleats are blotch painted, not dipped. You can blotch paint to blend in other components that can't be camo dipped. I would not camo dip any cam cleats, especially the Harken. They have ball bearings that could potentially seize up.Does it seem like dipping a Ropeman would work? With the inner part moving independently I wonder if it would be an issue.
Here's my carabiner and rope man, painted with a flat tan and blotched with a flat brown. Seems to come off the ropeman fairly easily. as I suspected it would. There is just a lot of weighted friction from the rope and biner.Does it seem like dipping a Ropeman would work? With the inner part moving independently I wonder if it would be an issue.
Looks like some OCD there. Here's my carabiner and rope man, painted with a flat tan and blotched with a flat brown. Seems to come off the ropeman fairly easily. as I suspected it would. There is just a lot of weighted friction from the rope and biner.
To me, it still looks better than some tiny orange becon being in your face all day! I'm a little crazy though...LOL.
I may try to camo dip it next year.

I can't believe you would let that little bit of orange show like that.Looks like some OCD there.

Let's see yours big boy!! Oh wait, don't show it, because yours most likely won't show ANY friction!I can't believe you would let that little bit of orange show like that.

Yep, I suspect nearly 100% of us are, at least to some degree. That's what led us down the path to the saddle. It's been an adventurous journey and I've enjoyed it.None of us are OCD on here......

I would think cerakoting would be the best alternative overall.Would cerakoting hold up better than paint? I have no experience with coating anything but would like to change the colors of my biners and ropemans

Where have you been all my life. I don't know how I missed that these cleats are available. Oh I have so many ideas.....These are actually Harken cam cleats. I had some Ronstan ones that I used somewhere else.

I've been meaning too try the spray paint dip method. Here's my carabiner and rope man, painted with a flat tan and blotched with a flat brown. Seems to come off the ropeman fairly easily. as I suspected it would. There is just a lot of weighted friction from the rope and biner.

That's correct. Just use a sponge and that will give you the pattern.@Arkrider Is blotch painting simply applying the darker paint (flat brown in this case) to a cloth of some sort and dabbing it around? It looks so good!
