flinginairos, do you use an auto block below the ATC? Great video, always good to see how folks actually do it!

Yeah forgot to show it. I just use paracord. Some guys might not like that idea but it's not holding weight, it just keeps the rope pulled down into the ATC. works perfect

Looks cool.... You guys are going to convince me to get gafs yet

I used gaffs all last year and decided I better try my sticks out for some public land hunts I have planned this year. The sticks are ok and I do fine with them but man they are a pain! Gaffs are so much faster/easier.

Lol, in reality, the decent is way faster. At least when I do it. It only makes sense with spurs and single step. Snatch the gear and drop down.

I hear ya. Wish I could use gaffs everywhere. So quick and quiet.

Ok. I see everyone rappelling so why not just spur back down? Is it hard to do?

You certainly can. I just hate putting the Spurs back on in the tree and you have to be careful stepping off of your platform and back onto the tree. I usually set my rappel rope up when I first get into the tree and it literally takes me seconds to hook In and come down the tree.

It's hard to put them back on in the tree. I did it this morning and quickly reminded myself why I rappel down so I have the rope this afternoon.

Thanks Flingin!! And a nicely done video as usual. This gives the visual I needed to gain confidence in exploring this method in the hunting realm. Most YouTube videos give the impression that you can't be successful at this without a lot more "stuff". Thanks again bud! Now let me hit some other forums, I have a mouthful of stuff to offload today:tearsofjoy:

Red ,
Please add a thread for " member/contributor" of the month. August goes to Boswell and September goes to Flingin.

Is your rappel rope just a longer version of a tree tether? What are you using to descend?
