Integrated waistbelt to Sitdrag

Unless you have some massive belt loops, that 1.75" cobra buckle won't fit through them... that's the biggest problem I've been having looking to go that route.

For what he is using it for, I don't think he needs, or wants it to go through his belt loops.

Ah, with the links and video, I thought they were talking about adding a riggers belt in addition.

Lol, I don't think we're on the same page. From what I understand of what Ernie was talking about, he would like to use it in addition. But he is looking for a hookup point that is tight to his body to use with SRT, rather than a bridge that is over a foot away from him. Unless I got lost in this thread myself which is very possible lol.

Red you are spot on. Perhaps getting a rigging belt that fits through standard belt loops would work though. You would literally be climbing and repelling by the seat of your pants. Otherwise you would need to incorporate the saddle in such a way as to prevent the belt from sliding up to your armpits.

I was thinking about the loop as another added safety should the bridge or loops fail.

That's sort of what I'm thinking about. I'm thinking of clipping either a redundant Prussik or the end of the tether right into the belt as a backup to the bridge and loops. It wouldn't be comfortable but it should be a safe backup at least.

I use a small buckle strap that I use around my waist while climbing and then move it up for back support...yes I am a sitter....

Any updates on this belt? I use the aero hunter and the bridge isn't fixed so I just tighten it as far as possible. I assume most guys use a fixed bridge? If so what length?

I have one, but can't decide if I'm actually going to use it or not. It's solid, but doesn't quite do what I want it to. I could probably be convinced to sell it

I got the cobra buckle and speedy stitched everything up. It's not pretty but it held me bouncing off my tree. I have a good 5.5" overlap that has several stitches to the cobra buckle, then I did simple boxes with one half of an X just to hold the belt to the sitdrag.

I don't have a way to post a picture of it yet but it's nothing special anyway. Super comfy though. And I can shimmy it up or down a ways depending how much I want to sit while still being pretty secure. As a backup I'm happy with it.

Now I'm just struggling with getting up the tree...

Try tying it off 24" and shorten from there. I think mine is around 18-20". I tend to like a shorter bridge seems to alleviate hip discomfort.

So you guys are using a riggers belt instead of a RC harness? A riggers belt looks like a great multi-purpose backup piece of safety gear.

I'm not technically. I've sort of made one though with the cobra belt and webbing. As someone mentioned very uncomfortable when it's holding all your weight but it did hold...

Right. I would have zero expectation of comfort from a riggers belt. Likewise I would never have any intention of hanging from it either... But as an added piece of safety equipment it seems like an easy item to swap out for my current webbing belt that I use for hunting gear.

This is the waist belt I did with mine a few months ago. I stopped the sewing exactly when the Sit drag started separating from my hips, so I didn't get any added hip pinch.
The buckle was replaced with a cobra buckle with sewn stops on the tails. I tested falls on it, and even had it arrest a real fall when I had a climbing stick spin on me while climbing. It obviously isn't comfortable to fall, but I didn't even end up with bruising around my hips from the fall. I double checked the stitching after the real fall and not a stitch moved, so that is comforting.

Do you use it as a linemens belt when climbing?
