Crap now I need to decide if I want want to exchange the one that is supposed to be here on Thursday.
For those already saddle hunting do you think the Comfort will be there without the padding
I think you will be fine without the padding. I'm 285 and can be comfortable in a sit drag. I think if you aren't comfortable it will be from hip pinch and padding isn't going to make that any better. You can just play with the bridge length until you get the comfort level where you want it. The only adjustment that is on the saddle itself is great for those that are new to saddle hunting. I see the adjustment being most important for moving from leaning to sitting. People that lean or sit all the time will probably adjust it once and forget about it. People that are new to saddle hunting have yet to determine if they are sitters or leaners. I haven't used the aero evolution but everyone tells those that complain about comfort to adjust this and that. The kestrel shortens the learning curve.

You might want both lol. I can see the kestrel working better for when I use my thigh and chest wadders in the swamps and the evolution in hill country and longer sits. I am pumped for this season !

When will the new saddles ship?
Starting Sept 1

BINGO! Have you been spying on us?

Wear and tear will be interesting. The EVO is overbuilt. Like an industrial safety harness. You'd have to make an effort to wear that out.

The kestrel has parts that will wear out and can't be replaced.

No problem. I think the big question is once you get the evo adjusted perfectly how you want it will it be more comfortable than the kestrel. That question will haunt you unless you go ahead and order both.
Personally If I were to buy two saddles right now it would be the kestrel for lightweight run and gun setups and the web for all day sits during the rut.

Why can't I have both comfort and lightweight for running and gunning

Absolutely. No question.

With one caveat...it will take time to adjust (3-5 hunts) before you figure out your comfort zone.

I'm a little concerned that the leg straps with no padding will kind of dig into the back of your legs even though that is adjustable I've had tree stands in the past that had seats similar to that and that was always an issue

So I really want to explain our thoughts and design behind this new saddle and this is a great example. So during the testing of this saddle we had a prototype with padding that we cut apart for one reason or another. When we did this we noticed that the padding was very compressed after being stiched in the saddle and used. So we decided on the next one that we would use a denser foam to counter act what we had seen and to hopefully add more padding. We quickly found that to be a very bad decision, it did just the opposite, it created severe pressure points where the foam was in the saddle. So then we went the opposite direction, removing all the padding in the saddle, and was pleasantly surprised by the results.
Not having padding, reduces the amount of time it takes to make the saddle, which makes everyone happy.

Thanks,
Boswell

I can see your logic and understand how your testing went but during your testing did you sit any extended periods of time to see how long term Comfort would be

Makes sense. I always wondered how much practical comfort padding could actually add since it likely gets compressed down to nil while in use. Glad to see you could cut bulk, time, and money by removing it.
