Is there a backpack out that makes carrying sticks easier

The two frames you mentioned look awesome. Just too expensive to use on the back forty. I gotta keep looking.

I would look into a army surplus MOLLE frame with waist belt and shoulder straps. Cheap, comfortable, and infinitely customizable.

Thanks, I’m gonna try that. I wonder if I can cut off the sides and just have the bottom middle and top.

I was going to post in here that I had an LL Bean Hunter's Carryall for sale, but i'm pretty sure @Tapeworm set a SH record and bought in like 8 minutes.

That's a great option though - you can strap pack of your choice over top of the frame pack.

thanks for the response! I like the price point. Have you had to carry yet for at least a mile or so? Comfortable on the back?
My longest walk is probably a mile and a half. No problem. I loaded it up and went for a 3 mile hike, the pack isn't the problem, my waistline is.

I can fit my saddle and all my gear in my super day comfortably, with my sticks and platform strapped on the back. The super day also has a pistol holster that is very nice. I ride my bike in on a few properties and do it comfortably with this setup. I have a gun rack mounted to the handle bars for my bow.

That’s the way I pack mine. I have been putting my platform on the inside though.

Do you guys think the superday will hold 4 xop sticks? That's about 15 lbs plus my platform? Love the price of this one

Got my horn hunter combo yesterday. Spent some time packing it for saddle hunts. I think it’s a winner that rivals the MR pop up 28. I’ll post a full review soon.

To all the guys strapping sticks to the front of packs without frames - use one of your cambuckle straps, or get a spare to go around the whole pack...you'll save your little front straps that aren't really designed for all that weight and make the pack last a lot longer. So you still use them, but by cinching the whole pack down, you pull some of the weight into the back of the pack.

Has anyone used the sitka toolbucket to carry in thier sticks? I flat out love the design of these packs been using the toolbox for years but I know it won’t carry sticks worth a damn

Great idea! Workers great

Here are 3 Helium sticks, that are full size, strapped to my Badlands "Dash" pack. Flip the sticks upside down and put the steps in the drop down rifle boot. Fasten the horizontal strap and you're off. You can adjust how high or low they carry by adjusting the boot.

I have another set of Heliums on the way. I may end up cutting them down some, which will only make them carry better IMO. My old knees really like the double steps. I am just not sure about how high I can go with cut down sticks. Aiders haven't been my friend so far.

I also have a Badlands "Superday" pack coming. It is a bit longer and has 3 horizontal straps, which should help securing the sticks. Same boot setup as the Dash.

This looks good

Here is the same pack with my shortened heliums. They are cut down to 22" overall.

I also have found that a surplus 3 day assault pack works well with the cut down heliums. Plenty of Molle to strap a platform to as well. 4 sticks would be ideal imo, putting 2 on each side to balance the load better. I used this set-up when hanging cameras yesterday. Being military surplus, it is built to last.

I just got this Kuiu day pack in. It has everything I was looking for in a pack. A super light aluminum and plastic internal frame that is hardly noticeable but gives it some rigidity to pack out a load. Plus it has load lifters on the straps somewhat like the bigger game hauling packs but perfect for deer. It has all the pockets I wanted in the right places and design. It’s slimmer and holds close to my back but has plenty room to expand if I need the room. I had a badlands stealth before and carried my set up the same way but it would slouch when packing out a deboned deer or hog. The stealth is very similar to the badlands Super Day pack, just a little smaller. This Kuiu pack with its light rigidity, feels a lot better with sticks and platform. Plus it’s treated with a water repellent. I think I made the right choice. I’ll know for sure after the season. I know now it’s gonna work better than what I used the last few years. I may reposition the platform and sticks as I play around with it. This is the 1st time I loaded it with everything.
