That’s what I use to do. This is better. Plus having that castration band right in my face is a good reminder what it would have felt like falling in my sitdrag with an alpine BOD rock climbing harness as back up.

What do you use for a castration band?

It pinches your tether loop shut so it doesn’t loosen up and slide down the tree when you don’t have pressure on it.
Most of the time, I even hang my back pack off my tether loop instead of dealing with a screw in hanger and the castration band still keeps it from sliding down.

The band is not necessary. You can accomplish the same thing by looping the tag end of the tether once around the tether loop after threading it through the loop. No additional hardware required.

Very cool. Where did you get that?

If it's a real castration band a farm supply store should have them. Probably have to buy a box of them.

After ordering it I did go and try Autumnrider’s guido web and his sit drag and slung a few arrows from them I got my kestrel and played with it a few times at the house I did have some hip pinch but quickly done a few adjustments and headed to Missouri I had no problem sitting in it for hours on with no mod... What did you do to get rid of the hip pinch?[/QUOTE said:
First I tweaked the length of my bridge in small amounts until I found less pinch then I moved to tether length and done the same and as was said by red I moved the wait strap down below my normal belt line. I’m no expert but I believe because everyone is different in body shapes what works for one may not work for another. For example some use a short bridge and put their tether eye level that did not work for me I have longer bridge and my tether is above my head this is what work for me. It might take some longer than others to find the sweet spot but trust me when you do it will be so worth it. Don’t give up and just do small adjustments. If you shorten your bridge an inch sit for a min get the feel if you still feel pinch move another inch if it gets worst then move it back and go to your tether hight and repeat the proses you’ll find it just don’t try to rush it

Correct but this is easier and holds better. And once you put it on there, it’s not like you are carrying extra hardware. It’s like part of the rope.
With the double wrap through the loop, the weight of my backpack would still pull some slack when I would hang my backpack from the tether around the tree.
This is my preferred method.

Easy enough. My brothers are all farmers. I'll grab one or two from them next time I'm up there. Do they ever fail on you? I know they're pretty tough rubber bands.

I put 3 on my loop so I’d have back ups if one popped. I’m still on the 1st one that I used all last year and I’m sure it will last for a few more years! Lol

Is there a size difference in the saddle portion from size 1 to 2? When i ordered mine i just assumed the saddle part was the same and just the waist belt and leg straps were different on them.

I haven't laid them out side by side yet but the size 2 saddle is definitely larger.

Dang that's got me thinking, I may get in touch with new tribe a change to a size 2 lol. Do you think a size 2 would be way to big for someone with a 34 waist?

I honestly don't know right now. I'm a size 36 and I've been using a size 1. I didn't think there was any way that I would need a 2. After using it for a couple months I was wondering if a 2 would fit me better when my clothing bulks up. So when one popped up I jumped on it to try, especially because no one has had both sizes to compare back to back. I have 4.5 days of hunting ahead of me so I will get to give it a good shot. You're 2 inches smaller than me around the waist though also.

Woah guys. I just tried on a size 2 kestrel. I'm going to hunt in it tomorrow but oh boy!
Wow. Size 1 was good for me, but size 2 was amazing. I'm very surprised. Only sat 1.5 hours tonight. Tomorrow I'm dropping my daughter at day care when it opens and hanging the rest of the day in size 2 so I'll have more feedback.

Yes, If memory serves me correctly its like 1.5-2 inches on every side of the saddle.

Thanks,

I'm interested in this topic. I'm on the border line for size 1&2. Im wondering if the size 2 would offer me a little more comfort. Can i borrow the size 2 lol.

lol. It was on a whim. I'm a size 36 pants. Like I said, I'm going to test more over the next 4 days and then I'll give more feedback, but right now I'm extremely excited about my size 2.

Wait, you're close to me right? We could hook up after the rut and you can test it out.

Awesome. I’m going to use my (1) a few more times and if it doesn’t get better then I will switch to a size (2). If you decide to sell that (2) pm me I will take it or I will be flipping through the classifieds soon.
