Kestrel comfort

A lot of guys find placing the tree rope at eye level works very well for both the Kestrel and the Evolution. Some people place it higher but I've found the higher I place the tree rope the more extreme the angle the more pressure I feel on my hips. If I lower the tree rope it seems to work better and have less pressure for me.

Roger,

I agree. I used to hang the tether as high as possible, but it would cause pressure on my hips. Now I place the tether at eye level or slightly higher and it is much more comfortable.

Thanks ,Bring on the kestrel ....can't wait to try it

Are you guys talking about putting tether around tree at eye level or where you hook it to bridge??I'm coming from using my trophyline tree saddle ,But you guys got to me and I have a kestrel on the way lol... seems like Ill have a adjustment period getting used to kestrel.I hooked tether on TL as high on tree as I could and seemed to work well for me
We're talking about setting your tether hookup to the tree at eye level while you are standing on your platform.

I have been using an eye level hook up for years - I think I explained why on one of my videos. It really is simple physical science and leverage points. A higher hook up, without moving further from the tree transfer more of the weight downward. Since we cannot move further way form the tree (unless it is a leaning tree) then lowering the tether hook up transfers more weight across the three angles thus reducing the downward pressure (leaning verses sitting)

I did a fixed bridge for the first time with the Kestrel 28 inches and lowered my tether to forehead height and it is way more comfortable than my Evo. Of course, leaning is really comfortable but using this set up with the back band I was really surprised how comfortable I was when sitting, I think the back band really helped with the saddle low on the hips in that sitting position I felt like I was in a recliner.

Hunting in my Kestrel. Setting for 4 hours and no complaints. Very comfortable, back strap is great addition .

I also set mine as a fixed bridge at 24". It feels good there for me. I have noticed the more hunts I get in it, the more comfortable it gets.

Where can I find your video?

Eye level or lower tether, and shorter bridge. I'm new to saddles but that and wearing the kestrel below pant line helps it craddle underneath bettee!

So my Kestrel came with a 44" bridge. Do you guys think it's worthwhile to go to REI and get some rope to build an adjustable bridge? If so any diameter recommendations for both the main bridge rope and the prussic?

Just get a ropeman 1 to make the bridge that came with the Kestrel adjustable . That's what I did.

You can also just retie the knot to make your bridge shorter if you're just trying to find a good length. 24-28" is popular.

How is sizing? Im 36 waist... would you get the smaller one or opt for the larger one for winter wear ?

I'm a 36 and got size 1. The waist belt has a lot of adjustment so it should be fine as things bulk up. Officially to be determined though.

I too am a 36 waist and originally ordered a size two but I called them and changed it to a size 1. Im glad i did because there is still alot of room for layering.
