been in the saddle since before 5. Saw 3 doe at first light a 300 yards away and just had a jake fly into the field at 70 yards. Tried a couple yelps but he didn't want to get shot.

Nothing better than my first saddle sit on the VA opener. Got some nice cool weather for it which is a plus. Have almost dialed in the comfort on my H2 and climbing with the sticks went well. Definitely gonna need a pack upgrade from my cheap school pack though, the straps don’t do well carrying the weight on my shoulders. But so far this saddle thing seems legit.

Shot a doe and a little while later two bucks came in. They weren’t bothered that she was dead but just seemed curious if she was in season yet. Took a little video of it and this is a picture from the video.

Our season doesn't come in till Nov 14-22 and then again Dec 12-27 so they are just aggravating right now!!!

Michigan's season opened on Thursday but I didn't get out until yesterday morning. These does came in down wind of me right down the trail I walked in on. I wasn't expecting to see anything from that direction so I wasn't watching in that direction. I turned around and looked behind me and the lead doe saw me move. I froze and they slowly turned around and started walking the other direction. I thought I'd try to video them which is new to me. I've never done any videoing before except for a time or two on my phone. The does eventually turned around and walked within 10 yards of me with one coming within 6 yards. Sorry for the poor quality of the video, it's my first attempt at doing anything like this but it was fun. It was unusual to see 3 mature does together with no young ones....

been set since 5. We’ll see what happens. Would like a buck but I’ve gotta manage the doe factory on this property. As my buddy says, they’ll eat.
