That's not really the point or the reason so many of us are pining for a Predator XL or excited about the Ambush. It's because the Predator is marketed as a pivot style platform, and the Predator is a tad small for most of us to execute the "pivot maneuver" to shoot to our weakside in heavy boots and clothes. It's a great concept but not quite there, thinking a OSFA approach was going to satisfy all desires. But tethered was founded to be ultralight so it should come as no surprise either that the first Predator is a little undersized. Personally I think in between about 14 x 16" is a sweet spot. Not everyone agrees with that but that's fine I just want what works best for me and going DIY here I don't really see as a feasible option.

I agree. I just don't understand the huge deal of a few ounces or even a few pounds. I rarely notice a difference and I have long walks over bad terrain to my spots. If I ever get to the point where I'm worried about a little weight I'd be less worried about the weight and more worried about my state of fitness and my grit. With all the new stuff coming out, the old Alphas will soon be hitting the classifieds!!! Time to get one cheaper and DIY the size you want!! I think if you're worried about 2or 3 pounds you might want to think about off season training.
I would also think, that the Tethered guys will be reading these posts after the ata show and probably be thinking of a larger version!!
I gotta believe Dan regrets posting publicly about it now , not the most professional to post it on social media without even being 100% sure that any patent infringement occurred. It's to bad since they are/were buddies- Andrae even mentioned that Dan was the inspiration behind his wind check bottle in DIY sportsmans YouTube video that he posted todayLWCG (lone wolf custom gear) posted on Facebook in regards to Patent !
Twenty years ago I didn't give a flip about what things weighed of how much gear I packed in.......... time has a way of changing things. Being fit @50 is not the same as fit @30.I agree. Did you guys see Infalt's post on his patent on the stand machining?

I saw it. I saw the response to it by LWCG as well. I'm curious if anything will come of this. It's unfortunate either way.got a link I couldn't find it

Thank You..
I was just sticking to Toyotas Just like the Camry, it is a solid, affordable choice for most families and you can't go wrong with one. Definitely not a knock on the Predator, in fact, I will finally get to try one out in the morning and likely place and order for one shortly!more like predator is like the corvette, lone wolf platform is the Escalade.
Brother, wait till you hit 60! Hahahaha! But I will say that every year I read the Beast, saddlehunter, and watch those DIY videos, I get smarter as well as older! You guys sure make this stuff fun!Twenty years ago I didn't give a flip about what things weighed of how much gear I packed in.......... time has a way of changing things. Sure - I also hope that if Dan drove innovation and put in the time, effort, expense, and DELAY TO MARKET to patent his work, he doesn't suffer for that.I'm thinking about getting the stand and 3 sticks. I sure hope a silly argument about a tool manufacturing process don't eliminate the stand from the market. IMO it is quite obvious this stand has no resemblance to Dan's stand at all. I don't think Andre has to copy design from anybody; the man has always been one step ahead of everyone else in the industry and I hope this product line survives.....as I know he will listen to hunters and provide many new innovations in the years to come. I don't even hunt from a stand much anymore but I really think I'm gonna order one and a 3 sticks just because I respect the man. He's been at this game a long time and was well known before many of the current manufacturers were even heard of.
