Lone wolf handclimber/ Saddle combo Part 3

@Adrena123, I actually ordered some 1" square aluminium tubing, and I will fabricate arms from that, so that I can test without cutting into my lone wolf arms. I also had some aluminum angle pieces lying around, so I built a "seat" from scratch to the dimensions the modified Lone Wolf would be. I used 3/4 inch plywood for the platform. I will post pictures after I'm finished.
If this works, I would have two working units (not that anyone would require more than one) The beauty of the saddle system is that even if my prototype were to fail, I'll still be in my saddle. I would never chance building my own climber!

This was a great video tutorial. So it makes me wonder if that would work well with the climber for the tree lounge I have. This will be another try this spring.

Sounds good. Nothing wrong with having a back up. Yep, always safe with the saddle system.

Thanks..I tried the tree lounge foot piece back in 2006.It climbed well but was to bulky to carry around, for me anyway. It was fine but i rather hunt off a platform that i can stand on. For example i can stand on it with no tension on the tether and saddle, to tuck in winter clothes easily. Also you can rotate on a flat platform to take shots.

Hey Mr. Arena;
Great video and discussion of this LW belt issue. I have been using an old lone wolf V-bar seat for years as my platform. I had tried the newer seat with the belt and found it inferior to the v-bar. It appears that you have thought this through. I plan on trying your suggestions/mods, they look like real winners. Also, the foot strap.... I have always used bicycle innertubes. speedy stitched on each side and ran underneath the middle bar to create 2 foot placements.
Great stuff. thanks again.

Thanks for the compliments. It is cool that almost any "foot strap" method works, because the platform is so light. I joke around and say gum would work in between the feet and platform. Bike tube is a good one.

Getting around limbs with hand-climber/platform?

I found this new chat, any opinions on this?
I was wandering is to get a stick with an adier for this cases, and back up. Or would it just be an over kill.

I could see carrying an aider in a pack but not a stick. I would just bring 4 sticks and my ROS. For me, I usually know where I'm going through post season scouting so I know what tool to bring. I don't free lance to much. That's just me though. You have to do what works for you.

Modified stans LWHC yesterday and used a stock strap that came with it for the foot strap. May or may not replace it later because with the added zip tie, it can't "unclip" itself. Works good and is still adjustable.

Did the mod tonight. Can't wait to try it. I use shoulder staps on the seat climber and strap my treesuit to the stand. It lays totally flat against my back; don't notice the weight. The stitched on bicycle inner tube for the foot strap sewn on with speedy sticher.
I am rock'n now,

I did my mod this week too. Now if the snow would only melt enough to get in the woods I could give it a try. Thanks for the share @Adrena123!

I tried my mod, I still don’t have a saddle using a climbing Harness. But was playing around with Bridge length and for me if the bridge was longer ( no idea how long ) it made the climbing much easier.
For the way down I use a Rock climbing belay device ( gri gri ).

And I just wanted to thank Adrena123 and bongo and everyone else that gave great insight in using LW to get hunting!

Thanks for posting. The lone wolf hand climber seat is my preferred method of climbing but the belt snags the tree a LOT. This looks like it will solve that problem

A gentleman on youtube would like me to make a video on modifying the lone wolf platform with my "Adrena mod" Hahaha....
Since i do have to mod another one i said i would.

Is there anything anybody would like to see or me to show during the video? Figure i could just throw it in there.Let me know.

I just traded some we Stepps for another platform. I’m going to the Adrena mod on one and keep the other stock. So I’ll wait and watch your video.

Where i live (maryland) it seems it snows 1 to 3'' every other week lately , It's snowing now!
We still have a solid three feet of snow on the ground here with the banks along the road between 4 and 5 feet. I'm not getting into the woods anytime soon. :disappointed:

I took a walk out in the woods in Massachusetts today. There's only about 3" it's fairly warm so I think it's melting quick but we are supposed to be getting somewhere in the vicinity of 5" tonight. LOL
