Oh boy guys. What a long night. I shot a pig last night. But I think it was back. I followed blood and found 5 beds within 200 yards. Decided to back out for the night. It was a long shot with a rifle from a moving tree. Here is a picture of the last bed I found. All 5 beds look like this with solid blood in the middle of the bed. I can barely sit here and wait for c the sun to come up. Thankfully there is good snow so tracking is not too hard....

Good Luck Ernie!!!! I've been on worse blood and recovered many deer. Keep us posted.

Good luck man! The snow will definitely help out. I shot the buck in my profile picture in the gut and wouldn't have recovered if it weren't for the snow. It helps when you can follow his tracks as well

So good news, and bad news. It's a great buck, but I wasn't in my saddle....... I could have lied and submitted him but it wouldn't feel right.....

I decided to sit in a ladder stand I knew of because we had fresh snow, and I knew I would be able to see through the swamp better. At around 3 he stepped out at the longest distance he possibly could. I took a shot and he buckled and ran. I sat still and watched. About 5 minutes later he stepped out in the brush about 100 yards from where I first shot. He bedded down. I didn't know if I had hit him or not, so I shot again. This time however I had to stand on my toes to be able to see him through a gap in the pine tree in front of me. I shot, and he was gone. I waited 30 minutes and went over to where he was and saw some very light blood. I followed it and found several beds within 300 yards but he was still moving. I decided to back out and come back in the morning. I found him within 100 yards of where I stopped looking.

My first shot was a low guy shot. Exploded stomach and brisket bone. Second shot busted his shoulder.

I'm so excited to final kill a buck in Wisconsin. It's been almost 15 years and a little 6 is the best I have shot.

Great job on the track. The snow makes it easier. We tracked a nice buck last year that took a 12ga slug through the chest cavity that went almost 1000 yards. The blood trail was marginal, but consistent, and he bedded down 4 times and each time there was a pool of blood like that except on boths sides because of exit/entry wounds. We also backed out until the following morning. The blood trail eventually dried up but some blind ambition (luck?) put us on him. Definitely a harrowing experience and one that makes the hunt that much more exciting.
