After 14 days of hard hunting in Ohio I finally got it done. I took a new route to get into a tree I had picked out in March and settled in around 2pm after climbing with my spikes. I was overlooking a nasty clearcut with very little places I could shoot. At 4pm I see a deer pop out in the one decent opening i had at 100 yards and saw a rack without picking up my binos. I slowly grabbed the gun and got the scope on him. He was staring right at me with his ears back and I thought he was about 17" wide with good mass so I cocked the hammer and squeezed it off. He took off up the hill and stopped and I could see blood spraying out both sides. In about ten seconds he was dead.
I really thought I had killed a dandy and was out of the tree in record time lol. There was a bit of ground shrinkage when I got to him but I'm still happy! I've hunted hard this year and was really starting to get burnt out in Ohio. He's definitely not my biggest but it was a fun hunt and my plan worked out perfect. I'll be sore for a few days after the 3/4 mile drag through the clear cut!
Sit drag for the win! Also worked great on the drag out!
