PigMageddon 2017

So do we canoe to a island and find a tree? Or will we be in knee high swamp all day? I haven't hunted in a swamp for pigs, out of state before
Lots of firsts for me
First out of state hunt
First swamp pig hunt
First canoe hunt
First canoe anything
I'm sure many more I'm forgetting

Swamps and canoes are optional. You can walk through the woods on high ground and stay dry the whole time. There are food plots that pigs frequent as well. However, hunting the swamps and rivers is pretty fun. So if you want to give that a try you can, but don't feel like you have to. The last pig I killed was in a big pine flat, and I saw 4 other pigs that morning. My boots never got wet.

Man I wish I could come on this trip! I miss hunting down there so bad. The Georgia swamps are just a different world compared to what I normally hunt and it's so much fun chasing those pigs. Maybe next year!

Sounds like we are going to have a good group too. We'll miss you @flinginairos

I'll be looking forward to pics! I have a video somewhere of me killing three hogs at one time I'll try to find it and post it lol. I earned the nickname "Machine Gun Kelly" from that hunt

I've had several requests to bring "other" Hunters. Someone has to make a decision on this... And since it looks like I'm the guy, I'm going to give this general guideline for "guests".

The purpose of this hunt is to give Saddle Hunters a chance to meet up, get to know each other, show off our setups, and try new things. This will make our community better. However, it's also in the best interest of our small community to introduce other hunters to the benefits of saddle hunting. At the same time, I think we should limit the number of guests to maximize interaction between members. What I don't want is separate groups of people.

So here are my guidelines for non-saddle hunting guests: each member of Saddle Hunter can bring 1 guest (family doesn't count against that). We are all grownups and you are free to do as you choose, but I think this limitation will make for the best interaction and build camaraderie among all us Hunters.

Questions or issues with this, feel free to send me a PM.

Are you planning on attending?
The entire trip would be highly unlikely so I don't want to commit and make things messy for g2 but I would love to drive down and shake some hands. Bring my bow for 1 hunt possibly.

Awesome thanks. I wanted to ask the group about this.

I wanted to bring my hunting partner.

I also have been trying to do something like this on another site With 4 other guys. I can see where things could get messy trying to combine all in one. No clicks.

I really appreciate the opportunity

It all works for me. I need solid numbers 30 days out. That's the earliest I can reserve the Campground, pavilion, and canoes/kayaks.

I'm good with saddlers, and tree standers alike. I'm sure we'll convert them after a long weekend.
Copy all.
That was the plan for taking non saddle hunters, assimilate or die......that's a bit strong but you know what I mean.
Saw the post about limiting cliques.
I'm gonna bring extra gear if anybody wants to do some gear swapping.
Also, 99% sure I'm coming, random TDY possibility 1%. Blocking leave when I get back from TN.

ok. I am trying to work some deals here on airline and baggage. I signed up for a delta credit card to get my first checked bag for free. Then the second should be around $35. If i can get most of my gear into carry on, then I should be able to bring back close to 100 lbs of meat if needed.

perfect time to work on that ultralight saddle.....

I am looking at flying in Thursday afternoon and leaving monday. Does that work for you red/G2?

Do we have a place to lock stuff up while in camp? I would usually use my car, but since i am flying in, I won't have a car.

I haven't booked my flight yet, but I have permission from the missus, and I am gettting more excited daily.

We'll make something work. Also, we're staying on a military installation so it's more secure than a typical Campground.
