Rifle break in

Went shoot at 180 yards holding dead on with a 100 yard zero. 5 mph head wind. Those hornady eld-x precision hunting rounds are great. Pulled one. I knew it was gonna be to the right before I focused back on target.

Do you guys go through the effort to "break in" a new gun? This is my first time trying it. It takes forever!

Ernie, did you shoot through the chronograph in this picture??

The hornady eld 145g .270 factory ammo was 2870fps with almost all shots within 15 fps of that. This was all measured at about 10 feet from the muzzle.

That's the plan. It's a superlite, the idea being to cut down on some weight. My 7mm is my go to gun, but it's heavy. This one is just a, shade over 7#

Hornady precision ELD-X was by far the best factory ammo I shot. Very consistent.

That is what i'm shooting out of my new 6.5CM. It's insane how good it shoots! Also, I did very little to break that rifle in. It's a Bergara B14 and according to the maker the don't require much break in. All I did was shoot ten shots and ran a bore snake through after each shot. It put seven shots in a hole the size of a dime after the first three shots so I called it good lol. I've shot out to 1000 yards with it twice now and it has really impressed me with what it can do. Can't wait to smash a deer with it :D

I have a Bergara B-14 Woodsman in 6.5 Creedmoor and it's sub-moa all day long. I have a box of the ELD-X rounds but I haven't shot them yet because the Hornady Interlok rounds have shot so well.

That's exactly what mine is. LOVE that gun! The ELD-X was the first rounds I tried from it and they shot so good I didn't see much reason to try anything else lol.

I shot the hornady superformance GMX and SST. SST was tighter than the GMX, but neither as good as the ELD-X. Thats all I ran through it. I wish I had a solid table and on flat ground to see what I can do with it. Lil plastic table on rocky dirt sloping to my right feels like I'm sliding off with every shot! lol
180 is as far as I cut into the woods. I'd like to go to a range one day and stretch it out. I just don't like being around people! lol

I joined a 1000 yard range about half hour from where I live and they have plates every 100 yards all the way out to 1000. At the farthest berm there is clay pigeons lined out on a dirt bank to shoot at as well as a plate above them. Yesterday on my very first shot I missed a clay by 2" low, second shot was right edge and third was right above it lol. So dang close!! I did hit the bigger steel plate the first shot about the size of a milk jug. Talk about fun!!
