Shall we talk shotguns?

1927 Ithaca NID field grade in 20 gauge and a Henry single shot in the same. Neither of which are particularly high end. But I’m happy and I’m happy with the quality of both. The Ithaca has been in my family since 1937 and I’m the fourth to own it.
We have a ithaca super single m66 in 20ga...I'm the 3rd in the family to own. I don't know the year but it's gonna be close to the same as u.....everyone likes shooting that 1...something about the simplicity and little recoil...the 20ga and 22 are always the last to get put away whenever we get to go shoot

Yeah man that’s a beaut. Believe it or not that little Henry 20 single is my duck gun. Something so pure about a single

Fiocchi makes Number 5, 3", in their Golden Pheasant.

I shot some of their 3" #7.5 at dove this year, shot well,. Local shop had em marked down to $10 a box. Saved all the hulls, need to send some steel shot loads in to precision for pressure tests. Hardly any non toxic data for the 3" hull.

I have found that #5 doesn't want to pattern well in any of my 28's. Either have to shoot #6 or #4 to get a good pattern.

You pattern .28 at any longer range?

Rarely past 40 yards. I've shot some 1 3/8 oz #9.5 TSS at 50. Patterned well enough to kill a gobbler.

All my waterfowl loads are patterned at laser ranged 40 yards. Some bismuth 4 and my go to waterfowl load is .5 oz #8 tss under .5 oz #5 or #6 steel. It slams about anything I've ever shot with it under 40 yards.

Man you’re really selling me on the idea of reloading too. Sounds like you are into it which is awesome! Also really selling me on the .28 gauge

I've been loading 20 gauge since I was in middle school, got into loading 28 about 4 years ago just for ducks. Spent a lot of time reading threads on the 28 gauge society forum. Lots of good info over there. I can load my TSS/Steel duplex loads cheaper than a box of Hevi X-II ($46 a box for my 28 gauge loads) and I know that it will be consistently better.

You should see the looks on people's faces when I roll big geese with a little 28 gauge O/U.

Yea that’s awesome! I’ve been reading more and more about the myths of shotguns. Or I guess society’s standards. That anything less than a 12 has less power or that stuff. Really interesting when you look at actual ballistics

Benelli SBE 2. Never held a shotgun that fit me so right. Im superstitious with that gun too. My turkey hunting luck was wrong bottom and couldn't kill a bird to save my life. Bought that gun and started stacking them every year. I've bought a few guns I've been wanting to take out, but I can't bring myself to do it on account if I leave the Benelli home I'll jinx myself. Not worth the risk.

Really been enjoying shooting shotguns! Already looking for another one. Definitely addicted! Got close to 500 rounds through it now

I really enjoy the 16 gauge but my prized possessions (although not very high in worldly value) are my 12ga. 870 Magnum I got for my 16th birthday and my 12ga 1187 I got from my dad for graduating from college. I will never sell them, and they've killed quite a few deer and turkeys. Next is my 16 Browning BPS Upland, and then my Belgium Made 16ga. A5. I also have the 24" blued buck barrel for this A5. What a sweet package for deer hunting. I also have a 1100 in 20ga. with the matching deer barrel. That thing is mint and along with my BPS Upland are basically closet queens. I know these are nothing high end but to me they are!! Would love a Sweet 16 but sheesh! They're easy going for $1500-2000 and that was when I was seriously looking into them so I'm sure they're up even more now.
My father has a sweet 16….Belgium made. Gonna have to fight my brother for it eventually lol. Good thing is, I’m bigger and stronger. Lol

Good reason to keep in the gym too! Keep the bigger and stronger thing going’ haha

Anyone know anything about older shotguns? LC Smith, Parker? Or just about shooting older guns? Lemme know. I have some questions, thanks!

Im not really into "older" shotguns that much but I do know that certain older guns you should be shooting low pressure loads...
Mainly Damascus barreled guns I think? But if'n you are looking at one you might want to find out if it's a recommended low pressure gun BEFORE you buy it so you don't 'injure' your gun.

Yea man! You’re right on the money. I’m looking at one right now that is at least 100 years old. I’ve already sorta been catching up on the low pressure loads. They even make special shells to be used in older, Damascus, twist type barrels. This stuff gets me pumped!

I haven’t got into those yet, those meaning the price! I drool like a child over them but man I just can’t spend that on a gun yet…. Haha I can surely appreciate one! If you buy one lemme shoot it please haha
