So i've taken mine on 3 hunts now. My first hunt I strongly disliked a few things about it, and new I would have to make a couple mods if It was going to have a place in my setup. 2nd hunt I was liking it more after mods. And 3rd I really am starting to love my predator pack.
Primarily I use the predator pack to haul my predator up the tree. Prior to that I would sling my predator around my neck and arm messenger style, but I always felt it was getting in the way and on occasion banging on something. Now I simply wear the pack like a backpack up the tree and have easy access to my predator platform. Once setup I simply hang the pack from a gear hanger or hook and it's out of the way.
First thing I did was to add a medium sized molle pouch to the pack. This comfortably holds a ranger, grunt call, release, and milkweed pouch. While it's tempting to stuff a few more things in there, i'm trying to show some restraint here.
The second thing was to wrap all of the metal buckles with the exception of the tethrd j-hook slides with camoform tape. This was my number one issue with the pack out of the box - metal buckles clanging and jingling. Even just putting it on and you could potentially get a good clink from the metal buckles hitting the plastic ones. Camoform fixed this right up, but make sure you put it on after you've decided if you're running the shoulder straps or not.
There is really only one change I would like them to make to the pack moving forward: Ditch the tetherd j-hooks for quick-release style plastic buckles. The metal buckles are a little obnoxious IMO, and prone to making noise.
Otherwise the predator pack is growing on me.
