Not that I know of. Ive been practicing it a bunch recently I like it I’m just trying to figure a way of mitigation the linemen rope. It’s a pain int the rear. Think I’ve come up with a solution but ill have to wait till I’m home to try it out and see if it works

Copy, report back! I just got my WE stepps, super pumped but I can't do any climbing because my back is all F'd up so I just get think about it.

I was thinking about using the tether as my safety line instead of the lineman belt but until I try it I don't know if it will work.

It’s hard not to use the tether because you have to tie the steps on the tree. Using the linemen belt you can lean back and have a sense of security while you install the stepps and move them. With out it, I feel very insecure and my lower legs cramp because I’m trying so hart to stay balanced. I’m trying to figure out a work around.

I also use my tether.

Ok so I went out in the rain this morning and practiced using the tether. This method will work. How did I do it? Well I took an round carabiner and put it at the hole my aider is in, then i clip it to my bridge webbing and I’m always attached to the tree but with a lot more freedom. I only climbed to 14 feet just got get proof of concept. IMG_0035.JPG

Don't you still have the problem that you're not being supported until you raise the tether all the way up?

No i raise the tether super high and i put tension on it. This gives me the support i need just in a different way. I squat a touch instead of lean back

I'm new here and trying to understand the concepts (sorry!)

So your'e using your bridge as a substitute for a linesman belt to connect to the tree? How long is the webbing that you use for the aider? Looks like your'e using a Kong Duck?

I’m using a CT rolling rock and the webbing is 36 inches long. My new bridge is only 24 inches. And it works fine as well. This is because i just adjust the length on the tether.

I'd be interested in seeing a video if you have the capability. It took me some getting used to with the linemans belt last year when I started out. Now I can't imagine doing this method without it. Each time I practiced I became more efficient with the linemans belt and I feel it makes setting stepps easier. What is the benefit of eliminating the LB and using the tether for both aider and support? Doesn't it open up more potential to fall with slack line? There is a decent chance I'm just not fully grasping how you are doing it LOL

Are you using tout tether while climbing? I get that you squat while tying the next one on but when you climb up say 3 feet to the next step are you not creating 3’of slack in your tether?

Yes there is no way around it as soon as I’m on the step I pull it up to the top of the rope. But yes for just a few seconds i have slack.

The biggest thing I was trying to avoid was the linemen’s belt and not being able to climb while connected. It’s not a perfect system but at least i am attached to the tree if I fall and i can climb un impeded. It works for me so far . I’m up for suggestions to make it better
