Treebolts revisited

How does it not spin out in your hands if it has that much torque? Was it on a hammer setting, or do you have Popeye arms?

The drill does not have that much torque but they sell an impact wrench that does. I guess it has 700 ft lbs of forward torque and 1100 pounds reverse. The drill and all the fuel tools have the same brushless technology.

If it was not a impact wrench it would. The drill is great for drilling trees. Fast and the battery lasts as long as I need it . The impact was mentioned because it has the same brushless technology that gives the power and gives longer battery life.

I'm going to bring mine to saddle Palooza so you can try them out with your drill bit if you want.

I wish I could go to Saddlepalooza but no budget for it. I am spending it modifying sticks. We need videos of dead pigs, pig hunting and equipment experiments.

I have, and I'm pretty convinced. There are two things that I'm hoping to see a little closer. One is any change between the EZ kut and the woodpecker (I don't think there is any, but curiosity is killing this cat) and two is whether or not you think the ez kut drill is quiet enough to use on a bedding setup.

Thanks again G2!

I have both the Woodpecker and EZ-Kut. The difference is the Woodpecker is a better made, more durable and drills a hole not quite as deep as the EZ-Kut, which means less turning. The EZ-Kut opens up more than the Woodpecker which will come in handy when drilling close to a limb. They both work. Would I rather have a Woodpecker..... yes. In regards to being quiet enough.... that's just not an issue. This past September after climbing down from drilling my first tree of the upcoming season with a cordless drill motor , near a bedding/travel area, I watched three bucks walk by me less than 50 yards. They never knew I was there.

Awesome info as always! I’m definitely going to give this a shot on the spots where I’m allowed to use them.

Do the treebokts hurt to stand on for any length of time as a platform?

Depends on how soft your shoe soles are. In my Lacrosse Boots, not bad at all... in my hiking boots, I can only do a few hours.

I have that same 12 bolt drill i get about 25 holes per battery. I switched to my 18 volt fuel... much better.[/

2x. I have both drills for around our farm I agree. I have tried it in our woods at home I only use it at home so I usually only set one tree at a time anyway so I like the 12 volt

If you are pre setting one tree per day a 12 volt is fine. Also the 12 volt has 2 battery sizes which makes a difference.

If you want to do several trees an 18 volt is good. Not a huge weight or even size difference. Most of the difference is the battery.

That's good to know. I plan to use 17 bolts per tree. That means I'll definitely need the 18v if I hope to get more than 1 tree.
