Well crap.....

Man, rough patches sure suck while you're in the middle of them but they're usually some of the best to look back on. You'll pull through. We're praying for you and your family.
I was cursed with a fall hernia surgery back in '96, had to go under the knife on October 10th at noon. I killed a deer with my bow that morning and since then I have killed at least 1 deer with my bow every year. Maybe you can have the same outcome?

Prayers for you both!!
I’ll PayPal too if it helps
We all need to stick together!
And if you want someone to help fill the freezer with some clean and lean Hoosier trophy does let me know !

Praying for a speedy recovery and I thoroughly understand your financial situation. Unemployed since Jan and the only income for a family of five (3 teens). Haven’t even been able to purchase licenses this year yet (DE & PA) so good chance that I will not be hunting the opener either.

God is good, and we will pull through just as you will too!

When it rains, it pours guys.

I have an appointment with a surgeon next Thursday to start the process for a hernia correction. It started last week at work. You would think a flight attendant’s job would be a cake walk (that’s surely what I thought when I started). It isn’t in my job description but, being male, I have always felt obligated to help ladies lift and lower their bags from the overhead bin. NO MORE. This is the SECOND major injury in 3 years just from helping people with their bags. A little over 2 years ago, I missed almost 5 full months of work for a torn shoulder for the same reason. And now this. I won’t be claiming workers comp, because I can’t choose my doctor, my time frame, my procedure type, and we would miss our 5-year anniversary trip to Europe in October... so that’s a no go. Recovery time seems to be 4-6 weeks, which isn’t all that bad. But, my wife has an appointment on the 22nd with an orthopedic surgeon to see if she needs surgery to correct a tear in her shoulder.

So... I may be out 6 weeks at the same time my wife is out 4-6months. GUYS, I MAY NOT HAVE A 2019 SEASON AT ALL.... If she has to be out that long (with her making up 65% of our current household income) I may have to work over the entirety of my time off during season. (Thank goodness I can double dip my vacation pay plus hours worked!!!)

Honestly, this is a bit overwhelming. We could end up losing the cost of a brand new (nicer than we would ever buy) car over the next 6 months between lost income and medical bills. Thank GOD we have been paying everything off like mad people. I think we can go 7 months without making a truck payment at this point. That means just mortgage, electric, water, and gas are about all the bills we HAVE to pay. No more Netflix, no more Hulu, no more sams club membership, no more beer, no more steaks (even on markdown), no more charcoal, no more fancy meals at home. It is going to be a beans and rice, rice and beans kind of fall if it goes how it currently looks.

Y’all keep us in y’all’s prayers for short times out of work, and cheap medical bills because we surely will need it. Between you and me, it is never a good year when you are flirting with the “max out of pocket” figure on your medical coverage.
Hey Ike you might want to call a personal injury attorney and double-check your laws in Texas. When I got hurt in Louisiana I was allowed a second opinion of my choice from any doctor I wanted to see and workers comp had to pay for it. As it turns out my doctor found a tear in my shoulder and ended up doing surgery the doctor that they chose gave me a clean bill of health. Never hurts to make that phone call they talk to you for free. I'll keep you in my prayers brother hope all goes well with your surgery.

dang it.... I'm hoping for a better report/outcome....... I need you and scoutmans help dragging all these deer out :) seriously, let me know if I can help in anyway.

Prayers buddy. That’s pretty rough!

Prayers for the both of you! I understand where you're at, but at least I only missed turkey season and not deer season.

I am a survivor of two hernia surgeries. I did one slice and dice and one arthroscopic and I healed WAY faster from the arthroscopic one. Prayer your way sir.

Well crap, that's a real pisser. Easy to take your health for granted, I know I do. Hope your healing process goes well.

How long would you say your recovery time was for the arthroscopic time around?

Thanks for all yo thoughts and encouragement guys. Hopefully her appointment gives us some more answers. We already know what’s coming of mine, just don’t know exactly when.

Thank goodness for good medical insurance!!

1st week was all rest not doing nothing!
2nd week spent all my time just walking around slowly and building those muscle tissues back up
3rd- 6th weeks I felt completely normal again (back to work and everything) and just had to remind myself not to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of milk. This period was tough!
7th week and beyond I was back to lifting light weights etc.
After 8 weeks I started lifting a few heavy things again but you better believe I am much more careful with my lifting technique as well as asking for help. Things I thought were an easy one man job are now two man jobs.
Good luck!

That’s what I was worried about. My job description requires the ability to lift 50lbs... I’m cutting it close on lot missing a 2 week anniversary trip to Europe with a recovery period like that.

Kinda understand......2016 August. Lost part of 4 fingers left hand. Missed all deer season except a rifle outing at Thanksgiving. 2018 September. Wife fell and busted up her shoulder....Mr. Mom for all archery season. Life gets tough occasionally but we trudge through with the Lord's help and positive attitude.
