Extrusion can't do the slot, it would have to be a secondary operation, but it still probably be the cheapest way.Definitely the cheapest way to do that.

Good to know. We can do multilumen extrusions with thermoplastics but I've never worked with extruded aluminum. I'm sure it's a different animal.Extrusion can't do the slot, it would have to be a secondary operation, but it still probably be the cheapest way.

Correct, but if you removed material here, it could be extruded and still be plenty strong.Extrusion can't do the slot, it would have to be a secondary operation, but it still probably be the cheapest way.

Red, any update on these? What are you using for a ring of steps these days?I'm pretty excited about these everyone. I have one finsihed and 4 more cut that I just need to put slots in. I am going to give them a field trial and if they work I'll post everything up.
The idea didn't pan out. They did not hold securely to the tree.Red, any update on these? What are you using for a ring of steps these days?
Thanks! The idea didn't pan out. They did not hold securely to the tree.
I just use commercially manufactured aluminum strap on steps that I've picked up over the years. I still recommend anyone who wants to use a ring of steps to keep your eyes open for the strap on plastic ameristeps.
