Extrusion can't do the slot, it would have to be a secondary operation, but it still probably be the cheapest way.

Good to know. We can do multilumen extrusions with thermoplastics but I've never worked with extruded aluminum. I'm sure it's a different animal.

Correct, but if you removed material here, it could be extruded and still be plenty strong.

I'm pretty excited about these everyone. I have one finsihed and 4 more cut that I just need to put slots in. I am going to give them a field trial and if they work I'll post everything up.

The idea didn't pan out. They did not hold securely to the tree.

I just use commercially manufactured aluminum strap on steps that I've picked up over the years. I still recommend anyone who wants to use a ring of steps to keep your eyes open for the strap on plastic ameristeps.
