Ditched the Button

My man!!! You hit that DIY mod out of the park! Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. I have since changed them to one piece delrin bushings. I bought the amsteel but still haven’t tried tying it off like a boat cleat. I hope it works!

The cleat is what we use on some DIY sticks. The rope is girth hitched around the post(positioned by the cleat). Go around the tree, behind the post and around over top crease in cleat, around post then a wrap or two on cleat and your done. If the cleat were to fail, you're attached to the post. Cleat just positions the rope. I'm sure if you used the right cleat, and bolts, and rope, you could feel comfortable enough just going around the cleat and not the post.IMG_0489.JPG

I been thinking of a boat cleat but this would work the same way with a rope mod. Just wrap the tag end like you would on a boat cleat.
haha, I had the same idea with the boat cleat, but I'm glad @Wirrex could figure this out. I'm going to try this on a stick tonight.

What's the platform from?, Looks great, I still think you should get yourself a predator......first dibs

How did you like it on a stick??

So I figured out that I don't even need to do anything to some of my sticks to use them like a cleat on a boat, but if I did, I would change my sticks in a second. This is so quick, quiet, and secure. Everyone needs to ditch the versa buttons for a single bolt through the sides!

Rain tonight, no hunting... I’m thinking about finally getting that amsteel out and trying to splice some loops. The buckle on a strap is getting on my nerves.

I made a loop at each end of some 1/4” amsteel and slung it on. It is so easy to tie and untie on the bolt it’s stupid! I can’t believe I waited this long to try it.

I wrap once around each bolt to hold the pressure then tie it off like a boat cleat.

Has anyone found a good way to do this on Helium sticks? I was thinking about welding a tab to the center of a bolt, then drilling a hole in the tab and bolting it to the helium’s in the same hole the original mount was placed. That would leave either end of the bolt hanging past the vertical beam for attaching too. Is there a better/easier way?

Should be able to just put a locking brummel in the amsteel and bolt it to the back of the stick with a washer on the back of the tab bolt. Just use the tabs the way they are. These aren't exactly the same, but close. Another guy on here was going to try, haven't heard back yet.

I have been absolutely loving the bolt mod! The amsteel makes it so fast to tie off with the bonus of being silent and feather light.

I love how every season my system gets streamlined smoother, faster, and more quiet.

That would be me, but I had an issue modding the sticks. I have some others that I will mod (after I get access to a drill press), then I will try with original helium part.

BTW, who makes those steps? Do you like them?
