Received my versa straps today thank you so much @ckossuth!! Extremely light weight no metal!! Started playing with them before i read this post! For those just getting them i found it difficult at first to find which loop was the best fit but figured if i lift up on the predator and created slack i could get a tighter fit before camming over. This is what Carl was talking about in the intial post. My gen 2 predator cams over and is solid. It handles side pressure just fine with no give!! The straps are super solid and stitched really well!! They will hold up for years in my opinion but again i have only had them for an hour or two lol. They also become easier to minpulate as you stretch the stitching out which Carl had mentioned initially.

Worth the money???? Uh hell yeah so if you haven’t gotten you some you need to get you some!! Great product, simple solution to a buckle from a great guy with some sewing skills from his basement apparently lol

What would be the benefit in not buying only 8 footers besides a negligible weight savings?? Curious what lengths folks are buying for what application?

Here’s where it stands so far regarding lengths ordered.

6 footers- 54
8 footers- 27

Most of these are 3/4” Versa straps. There are several 5/8” Versa Lites ordered though and I look for the requests on those to pick up. They are awesome on LW sticks and I started getting some feedback from Beast stick users. They are MONEY!!

I think most people will find 6 footers to be sufficient in most cases. Some of the swamp/marsh guys may want one or two 8 footers for their bottom two sticks given the diameter of some of those tree bases.

I’m personally running all 6 footers. A 3/4” Versa on my Predator and 5/8” Versa Lites on my sticks.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to save up some funds for the sticks, but i'll probably hit you up for one for a predator platform soon!

ckossuth You are a genuis!!!

I ordered 5 Versa Lite straps a few days ago for my Beast sticks and Predator platform. I was shocked when I received my order today. First impression of the straps, I was blown away with the quality.
I could hardly wait to get these babies on a tree...
So I improvised and used a very small diameter tree in my front yard. Lol. My wife was laughing her A** off by the way!!! It literally took seconds to get 2 sticks tight on the tree. I have to say. Once you get the stick on the tree it WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE. I tried my best to get the stick to slide or wobble. But nope!!! It got even tighter. Litteraly there is no other method/mod to get your sticks or platform solid on the tree besides the Versa straps!!! I will never use another method. Btw I converted from rope mods on my Beast sticks. I also noticed the Versa lites to be noticeably lighter than the rope mods. I have one other thing to say... I can’t believe no one came up with this idea sooner.

So simple, yet super effective! Makes you wonder why something like the Versa Strap isn’t used over the buckle strap that has been used for years and years. Lighter, less to fail, quicker to install. Not really seeing a downside at this point lol

How big of trees do you hunt, and how long are your arms? 6 foot or a tad over would be the limit of my "bear hug the tree" ability" - and I'm not a fan of trying to blindly toss things from one hand to the other on the backside of the tree, unless I can't avoid it. So for one or 2 sticks, where I can walk them around the tree rather than make a bunch or noise - the extra length is useful. Otherwise it's extra flapping and difficult to use functionality.

Although for big branchless (or minimally branched) trees this did just give me an idea that I don't know why I hadn't thought of previously. If you can't bearhug, make a loose loop of e.g. paracord (maybe reuse as a gear-holder?), circle the tree, and bring it up with you as you climb. Use it to tie/hook on the strap and pull it around the tree.

Maybe others are already doing this, or maybe it's just a big hassle, but I don't really run too many big trees (although I did just get my first saddle deer from one, and in setting up there I was reminded of all of the ways they can be a big pain. Fortunately i was carrying extra straps to double-up and extend their reach, and could screw in for a gear holder, and drill for a platform, etc. I would have liked a different lineman belt setup, etc.)

Basically much longer than a 6 ft strap means that you need to plan ahead in a bunch of other ways, I think.

@ckossuth could this be used as an adjustable bridge with carabiners?

I was thinking you meant tether for some reason. LOL! That would be a NO!! You would have to disconnect from your tether to make an adjustment. NOT GOOD!!
For a bridge, yes, you could girth hitch the terminal loop on one side and use a carabiner in the loop of your choice on the other. I'm not sure how well it would "roll" through your tether carabiner though. Never tried it.

You could. But I wouldn't. I would highly discourage it. Unless you had two separate carabiners rigged up to your bridge, you would have to completely disconnect from it to make an adjustment. NOT GOOD AT 20 PLUS FEET!!!!
Great Point. Didn't think about having to be disconnected. Thanks!

Sometimes to reach around a larger tree I let the strap hang over the top of my stick and by holding the stick at the bottom end I reach around the tree and basically hand the rope to my other hand using the stick as an extender.

What’s the smallest loop setting on the Versa Strap? How small of a tree can it be used on?
