Everybody for the past year has been asking for WE to come out with a platform. They finally come up with what looks like an incredible solution, and we crap all over them for pricing.
I am as price sensitive as the next guy but when it comes to a climbing and stand system, my focus was always on being compact. A year ago I agonized over whether or not to use WE Steps or sticks. I heard so many complaints about how hard it was to use the steps, especially compared to sticks. But my focus was singular. I wanted compact. I did not want something that was going to snag on every branch I needed to crawl by to get to my hunting stand. So I initially purchased three steps and tried them out. At first I was like, "this blows". But after fifteen minutes I got the hang of it. I then purchased some more.
Everything I hunt with fits into my backpack. I can walk anywhere for any distance. I carry five steps and two ameristeps that are strung onto one of my steps. That's it. Very light, very compact. I am quiet and I set up fast. My platform may not be perfect, but it is pretty darn close. The Perch, actually may be a significant improvement, if I can be convinced that a platform trumps a ROS. Hopefully, Andrew brings one or two to our Massachusetts Saddlepalooza.
Both the WE Steps and the Perch are manufactured here in the greatest country on the planet, by fellow Americans and fellow hunters. Hell yes I will pay extra for that. I would gladly pay extra for everything I purchase if I knew it was all made here, from materials that were sourced from here. People have every right to not purchase something if they think it is out of their price range. But I think it is very disrespectful for people to jump on this forum and sh*t on the hard working folks who are trying to come up with viable solutions to our challenges. This forum is better than that. It would bother the heck out of me if I was the guy that came up with this solution and then saw some of the negative comments that are now on at least two threads about this subject.
I apologize for being a bit confrontational. Not my style.
