Have you ever NOT shared information?

Why would anyone do this unless they intended to profit or if it were something that needed to be bought repeatedly. I can’t think of a single piece of gear that I would have to buy so often that I would be fearful of the the SH effect other than arrows.

I do think that we have had effect on limited quantities of stuff. Didn't we crash the availability on Primal Steps last year?

There are some of us that have been in the loop with product testing, design development, and tweaking. Sometimes, the only reason that we are in the loop is because we don't prematurely let the cat out of the bag.
If we had loose lips, we would be tossed out of the loop.
But most of us on this site are very sharing with info when we can be.

Yep, like most of my ideas, the purchase I'm sitting on is not for everyone, and I'm not 100% sure about it myself. Not sure that it's dangerous for most folks, but you never know.

the argument could be made that releasing your idea for a piece of gear or method before its fully formed is advantageous. If you’re not in it to make money, and simply want to be a more effective hunter, you can leverage the collective of minds and cahones on this site - at very little cost to yourself. Let the ridiculous amount of FOMO and signaling work it’s magic. There’s a large group of folks willing to be early adopters and put things to the test. Toss out your idea, crack a beer and put your feet up, and watch as the Saddlehunter elves toil away refining your little gem of an idea...once they’ve proven it legitimate, you can adopt yourself. If they prove it’s a failure, well you’re out the time it took to toss the idea into the mix.

Also a great way to get products into production by those with the means. You create an opportunity by releasing the idea, and building demand. It’s happened a few times here.

@kyler1945 I"m totally with you on this. But the flip-side for me is those who assume the idea is perfect(for them and everyone right off that bat. Example Carbon Bolts. When I found them and after playing with them for a bit, I let a few select people know about them that I trusted and were competent and proficient enough in their skills to not kill themselves. The second I let the cat out of the bag on them, people jumped on them, and almost assumed they were perfect for them. Well some broke, very few people did the actual research on them to understand their limitations, or think about the care and maintenance, and now those of us who like them, use them, and find them to be a safe for ourselves have felt stuck defending them(including yourself!)and repetitively spouting specs and SOME people even think we should be responsible for having them professionally tested and share those results too(which is ridiculous). When the site was smaller and individuals were more motivated and excited to be involved figuring this stuff out together I wouldn't hesitate to share. Now, I"m definitely holding back anything cutting edge and only sharing with a select group(sorry guys) that I trust.
