I'm a first year saddle hunter. This thread is interesting.
Right now, I'm right at about 25lbs with the Hybrid w/o weapon. It'd be interesting to break it down between pack, saddle, and climbing method. Weighing each separately, my saddle is like 11 lbs (but that includes ropes, my knife on the belt, my tree hopper drill, doyle's hunting hoist, and a dump pouch with pruners and folding saw). My pack is around 10 lbs with the rest being climbing system.
I plan on bringing 1 cutdown LW stick plus and aider and tree hopper drill and 10 bolts. I may use them in combination (1st stick gets me to 6.5 feet real quick and then I use bolts. I could just one-stick or just use bolts. Obviously, I could save some weight there by choosing one method....2 lbs or so I guess.
I noticed most guys don't seem to be bring binos, some don't seem to have two ropes (tether and LB). I don't see calls/grunt tube. I don't see alot of purners and saws (which I can't imagine leaving behind). I have all my gear in a fanny pack and it still weighs nearly 10 lbs. I have to figure out what extra I'm bringing in there....
