What is easiest way to climb tree in the group opinion.

do you know if the bolts to the tree hopper mini drill are 3/8 holes
 
Since you have experience with a climber and straight trees without many branches, you could also check out the Hand Climber method since it will be familiar to you.

I've decided on the LWHC with the 50 degree bolt mod and the Summit cable mod. I like it. Tried it out today and love it......
 
I have 6 or 7 and a 12 step bag. How many you want. I use 5 and knaider/swaider but could keep one backup. Let me know what you want

I've tried modified lone wolf sticks, treehopper and bolts/carbon rods, WE Stepps, gaffs/spurs. I sold the gaffs since they're sketchy in the thick barked cottonwoods around here. I had a carbon rod crack on me and when it's freezing the pre-drilled tree hopper holes with bolts freeze shut requiring re-drilling. I like the sticks with an artisan style platform on top as a do all unit. I cut em down, added the platform, daisy chained amsteel and stealth strips. The wild edge steps have a learning curve but are my go to right now. I carry 5 in my pack and if I need to get higher 2 sticks to start the climb. I'll be messing with a knaider swaider soon too with these. The W.E. steps work well in trees with a crooked trunk or lots of limbs and I can space them out however I need.

I use 3/8” x 6” gr8 socket head bolts
 
Doesn’t anyone recommend SRT? No sticks or other hardware to hike in. Just some lightweight rope and very lightweight devices.

I made side arms to accept the Summit cable. 1" steel square tube with 1/16 wall thickness.

I use a combo of one stick and SRT. IF the tree is good I can SRT. If not I one stick but what I do is put my tether up as high as I can, come down the rope and grab my stick and SRT up to the tether and connect my stick.

I prefer climbing with a 30’ tether so I can rappel down if something happens. I also leave my stuff up in the tree at night and SRT up in the morning.

Really as far as the easiest it would have to be forward climbing sticks, it's more like climbing an extension ladder than climbing completely vertical up a tree, for presets your not gonna beat it for pure ease of climbing.

I agree with the forward leaning sticks ... but they are quite heavy... I bought the 16 ft version of these...

this year, I put up this , then 3 lone wolfs up higher... and it worked out quite well....

I only hunted maybe 200 yards from my truck... Since then, I reduced the 16ft to 8ft by just using the upper half... I moved the ground grabber from the bottom one to the upper half. I hunt public ground... So I would leave my stand and lone wolf sticks up high overnight , take down the leaning sticks and hide them, and take the straps with me. If you don't travel very far, this works out ok. Gets you safely up 8 ft before having to use strap on sticks

Sticks are easiest, especially if you do it right and use a lineman's belt.
