I'll never understand why every experienced saddle hunter (not you) doesn't clip the tag end back in to the biner. If the prusik rope or ropeman breaks, this will save your life or at least stop you from falling to the ground. I have been doing it for 13 years, it doesn't get in the way. Oh and its free plus View attachment 23002makes a nice armrest.
Sure looks like it.Is that tree dead?

I used to connect it there but with a simple move to a LB or bridge loop you’ve backed up your bridge.

I know this is a last resort option but in the event you need this backup what is your expected course of events as things transpire? Let’s say the prusik, Ropeman, or biner breaks, are you then hanging by the lineman’s loop from just one side? Obviously that’s preferable to heading to the ground but I am curious how it will feel and how easy it will be to get things such that you can easily get down. I really just want to understand if this is what will happen or if there is something I don’t know about how it might play out.
I’m 99.999% sure the only way I find myself in this situation is if a squirrel chews through my bridge or distel while I’m napping butt...
Yes, I’d be hanging by my right lineman’s loop and have many options available for a safe descent on me at any given time.

yes. but I was on the ground with my feet. Just gave me a little height to see over the weeds rather than kneeling in them.Is that tree dead?
Two things, First you might want to make sure you screw your gates closed EVERYTIME, second I see about 2 feet of drop before your bridge makes contact with the bottom of the bight your tag end makes by connecting it to the biner. 2 feet won't kill you but it will most likely take you off the platform. It's good to be thinking about backups though. I like to use my tag end to tie a bowline around my bridge and shorten the amount of slack I allow in the backup. If you wanted to then attach the end to the biner you'd have a back up to your backup. Not sure if it would still make a good armrest?I'll never understand why every experienced saddle hunter (not you) doesn't clip the tag end back in to the biner. The equipment will probably never fail but why not clip it back in, to easy. Locking biners are great but really not needed for saddle hunting, we just hang there. The 2 feet of free fall will make me pucker then lmao.Man, I wouldn't be able to get any sleep in the tree if I kept worrying about my gear failing all the time.
