Quick Link Stopper Knot

I had a similar idea. I did a different knot though. I did basically the sliding part of a scaffold knot with a separate piece of rope (looks like two wraps around the main rope). Without a loop, this left a tag end on both sides, with one towards the quick link. I left that tag end a little long and then gave it a few wraps of gorilla duct tape. When I slide it down against the quick link, the quick link goes between the tether rope and the tag end of the slider that is wrapped with duct tape to be made stiff. It has worked really well all last season. Periodically, I grab both tag ends of the sliding scaffold knot piece and pull to tighten the whole assembly up. The scaffold I'm discussing would basically be a double fisherman's knot I think, since it isn't forming the loop.

Your knot is smaller, more symmetrical and clean looking, however. I used the the same rope as the tether (predator).
pix please

I like it! I replaced some castration bands with this, I think it works better in this application (keeping my tether loop cinched). I also put a stopper on my tether, going to see if one works better than the other, or in combination.

Can anyone tell me the name of this knot? I keep trying but have yet to get it to work. Hoping I can find other views on how to make this knot.

Ok, found it. Celtic sliding button knot. Used for macrame. Thanks guys, I think this will work better than the gear tie.

Actually you want to move your stopper above the screw link before descending so the rope can freely move through the screw link.

That’s what I was wondering when studying this set up.

U right....
With branches and such better to move up or toward the screw link.....straight tree u can get away with just moving it down 2-3 foot away from screw link

Anymore ideas on the knot or anything else to go against the quick link?

Is this crazy?

Keep an eye on that poacher's knot. It is continually trying to pull itself over that oval screw link and untie itself. I had a similar screw link, but went to a triangle for this reason.
Thanks. I check my knots constantly. The fuzzing on that one is simply because I didn’t get the end burnt well when I cut the rope. So far it hasn’t moved yet. Always a good reminder to keep an eye on knots.

Do you prefer to seat the knot in the corner of the triangle or attempt to keep it centered along the straight side?

The thing is so wide that I don't think it matters. In the middle might be better.

What rope is that for the knot? What size?

does it burn into a nice ball when cut?

Do you do anything like overhanding a long tag end or similar as reinforcement? More knot more better, or just trust the scaffold to do its job?
